I'm taking ibuprofen daily in order to relieve from all the pain and headache. It helps me sleep calmly. I think I'm addicted to it. I don't get sleep when I'm not taking ibuprofen. What am I supposed to do? One of my friends suggested undergoing addiction counseling from a clinic in Vancouver. Will this be of any help? Is there a way to stop my addiction? Any tips are highly appreciated. Thanks!!
Addiction to Ibuprofen huh?
I'm going to agree, let's pass up the effects and look at the cause. So some effects to mark off as not causes are Ibuprofen psychological dependency (as they are not physically addictive but the changes they insight in the body can become mentally expected and thus 'addicted to' in the same way we'd miss someone after interaction with them daily for several weeks ceases, you miss the aspirin) and headaches, chronic pain, and insomnia all seem to be symptoms.
If we look back, could you say about when the pain and headaches began, and when you noticed you couldn't sleep without taking painkillers?
Could you also say how many and dosage of ibuprofen you take across the day? If you're surpassing 500mg-1000mg daily then you are probably in need of weaning off to avoid a placebo withdrawal from stopping cold turkey.
I would strongly recommend you consider alternative forms of painkillers and perhaps seek out a mental health counselor or health professional who can help you discover the source of your chronic pain, your headaches, and if it's the pain keeping you awake or something deeper.
You sound like you have something psychological going on, but I only say this because I don't think the aspirin is the cause of your inability to sleep directly, and I don't think your pain is imaginary if it's bothering you enough to make you keep on taking aspirin.
Have you ever considered trying cannabis? Real stuff, not synthetic or spice or whatever but real leafy smelly cannabis? One Fourth of a gram would do good enough to someone without a high tolerance to weed.
Otherwise I would recommend a daily combination of meditation mixed with yoga (both are scientifically proven to increase a person's pain tolerance), and definitely try to get a medical opinion...
Because like, at the least it's psychological pain and treatable with some counseling, at the worst it's something like Fibromyalgia and might be in the beginning stages. You should seek a medical opinion, any kind at all to give you some kind of direction.
And I mean a medical opinion from real doctors and practitioners and not us forum going spiritualists
