RE: Acne remedy? - BrownEye - 06-04-2012 http://www.findaspring.com/clear-spring-campground-sisters-or/ When i last lived in Sisters they were blocking public access saying the water was dangerous. It didn't really make sense to me that an organism would come "from" a spring rather than the surroundings. You know what works good for clogged pores? Duct tape! ![]() RE: Acne remedy? - Oceania - 06-04-2012 (06-04-2012, 05:25 PM)Bring4th_Monica Wrote:(06-04-2012, 03:01 PM)Oceania Wrote: well most of us have access if we make the effort. besides well water is just as good. isn't oxidizing the body good? i don't get it. You're probably thinking of oxygenating, which isn't the same, though there is a chemical chain of events that I'm not technical enough to explain. Basically, oxidation is like rust. It's what happens when you cut open an apple and it turns brown. That's oxidation. It causes aging and contributes to cancer. Antioxidant is the opposite. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, which are cells missing electrons. Antioxidants (found in abundance in fresh fruits and veggies) slow down the aging process and reduce the risk of cancer. When I started drinking alkaline antioxidant water, my hair turned blonde again and wrinkles disappeared. (Among other things...) It's electrically charged so it neutralizes free radicals by donating electrons. That's why it's not so much the source of water, as it is the state of the water. Old, bottled water that once came from a spring is still dead; whereas, water fresh from the spring is electrically charged. So unless we can get the water fresh from the mountain spring every day, we're not getting the water in its energized state. RE: Acne remedy? - Oceania - 06-04-2012 ok thanks for explaining the difference. makes sense. I went camping with my Dad many years ago up in the Bitteroot Wilderness area. The Salmon River runs through that area. (one of the few rivers that actually runs north in the states). Beautiful country full of crystalline streams, streamlets, sparkling pools, and river estuaries. Except, don't drink the water unless you boil it or filter it. The entire area is contaminated with an organism called "giardia. Its pretty common throughout the North American wildernesses. Seasoned campers and hikers know all about it. The organism can even contaminate shallow wells used in irrigation and for well water on farms. http://www.giardiaclub.com/ When they drill a water well in Idaho, they test each water bearing formation for the organism. If its present, they "case it off" (meaning they lower casing into the well bore to isolate that formation and seal off the contaminated water flow) Then drill deeper looking for a purer aquifer. RE: Acne remedy? - Oceania - 06-05-2012 sounds cruel to isolate water. RE: Acne remedy? - Zachary - 06-25-2012 I would like to get some opinions on a challenge I seem to be facing, rather than make a new thread, why not recycle this one? hehe.. I have acne, oily skin type acne. Through acne.org I found a system that gets rid of most of the acne on my face. Since I am living abroad, I have not had access to this product like I would in the states...so right now I am out of this product. This 3 step program consists of putting chemicals on the skin such as benzole peroxide..my dilema is, I am wondering if its in my highest good, in the long run. I have heard that chemicals such as benzyl peroxide are considered toxic by some health professionals, and Im wondering..if I can somehow attain the same results, or better results from using natural products as I would using the BP. I feel like benzyl peroxide might not be healing the root of the problem and I'd like to heal the root of the problem...I am aware many say acne is genetic but its hard to believe regardless of what one may do to get rid of it they are destined to live with it the rest of their life... Im just looking for advice...would you use BP if it worked for you...I really am not fond of having to apply this chemical 2 times a day, even though it works....its irritating and feels like im putting on make up or something...It would be nice to feel like there is not a thick coating of chemicals on my skin throughout the day...plus it stains clothes big time... Just looking for some opinions, or thoughts anyone might have for me. Thanks RE: Acne remedy? - omcasey - 06-29-2012 Well, first.. do you know which type of acne you have?, the kind that is caused by bacterial infection [10% of cases] or the kind caused from demodectic mites [90% of cases]. Are you under 20 years of age or over?, how long have you been experiencing the problem. RE: Acne remedy? - Monica - 06-29-2012 (06-25-2012, 05:56 AM)Zachary Wrote: I feel like benzyl peroxide might not be healing the root of the problem and I'd like to heal the root of the problem...Im just looking for advice. It's not. The skin is an eliminative organ, meaning its job is to eliminate toxins. There might be an increase in toxins due to diet, stress, hormones, genetics, etc. Chemicals applied to the skin prevent the skin from doing its job, and just drive the toxins deeper, contributing to other problems down the road. I don't know the root cause but I do know that I have oily skin and most of the acne I get is near the cheeks, mouth. I used to get it on my back and that has completely went away, which is good. RE: Acne remedy? - omcasey - 06-30-2012 By the sound of it you may have the demodectic mite variety, reports I have read say that 90% of teenage acne is caused from this. To know for sure you would need to be tested, but the telltale sign is here, the concentration around the cheeks. Benzyl peroxide shampoos are what is suggested for dogs with [their own variety of] demodex as well. You are very correct in picking up on the fact that this is a temporary, topical solution and does not address the root problem; a weakened immune system. Step one, is always to boost the immune system.. a compromised and/or not yet fully developed immune system is the avenue in for all illness and disease. I would suggest focusing your attention here first, and then complimenting this with topical aids. Boosting your immune system means making changes to your diet and lifestyle. If you are truly serious about resolving your problem, which is likely to worsen over time if you do not, it means eliminating sugar, flour, caffeine, nicotine, fast food, etc.., and eating more 'green'. I might also suggest, in the case of demodectic acne, considering ingesting [*food grade] DE, diatomaceous earth, along with sufficient daily water intake. There are many topical aids you might consider, lavender, tea tree, and/or clove essential oils, mixed into a carrier oil, such as coconut, sweet almond or neem -to name a few. I would also suggest showering daily, never going to bed without washing your face [this includes the nasal passages and ears], and changing your pillowcase daily. There is much more we could go into, but perhaps this is a beginning. I hope it is helpful to you. Casey RE: Acne remedy? - Zachary - 06-30-2012 It is helpful to me Casey, Thank you. RE: Acne remedy? - zenmaster - 06-30-2012 One of the best things you can do to prevent acne is to keep your skin clean and dry - free of dirt, oil, and dead skin. After sweating, don't let that sit there. Ensure pillow cases and bedsheets are washed once a week. Changing your pillowcase daily is unnecessary, IMO, unless you tend to go to bed without washing face/neck. Also use something to help exfoliate skin. RE: Acne remedy? - BrownEye - 06-30-2012 I have found that the immune system/chakra/energy center, is the "rose chakra". I would bet that working with that would help the general condition of the "heart" of the immune system. If you do the changing bedding route, you may want to steer away from detergents with perfumes and other crap added. I only use "free and clear", no fabric softeners, or if I want to get away from detergent stuff for good I use "soap nuts". Otherwise, all advice previously given is good. RE: Acne remedy? - Oceania - 07-01-2012 diet is important. also vitamin d and sunlight is good for the skin. unless you burn easily. You must have ZERO pain response ![]() - - I'm glad you found an effective, and reliable remedy. I still very occassionally get some pimples, but nothing to stress over. There was a period of 3-4 years after high school when I thought my skin would be clear for life, and yet these reminders from puberty re-appear every so often. for me, it's a combination of diet and attitude which seems to bring these on; too much oily food (ie, food court type food, rancid oils, peanut butter etc etc), and self-image, surprisingly. RE: Acne remedy? - Avocado - 07-24-2012 Yeah I hear you on that one. I actually have some pimples on my face right now but It's no big deal.
