i used to feel i was watched. now i understand that's my higher self or god, i then took it to be god. but it felt like it was me. i pray to Archangel Michael and Archangel Metatron mostly. cuz i've read that they help with protecting and healing. i have a book on angels that i got from someone. i also pray to my guardian angels or St. Anthony if i've lost something.

I was wondering how prayer fits into the big picture if we are all "God"? I know a lot of you pray, including Carla. I love to pray, but when I do, I don't even know who I'm talking to anymore (since I left organized religion). Blush Sometimes I get embarrassed, because I feel like I'm laying there or sitting there talking to the wall, or to empty space. Confused

I love the idea of feeling there is a God who loves me and that listens to me and gives me guidance. But just who are we praying to when we offer our words and feelings in prayer - and does it matter? Is it effective?

I noticed as I have been reading Carla's blog that she says she did her morning offerings - is that her way of saying she prayed?

Hi Kristy,
Interesting subject... metaphysic... my favorite! I'll share the following with you Smile

In the old monastic ways, there was and probably still exists four daily techniques for connecting with "God":

1/ meditation
2/ contemplation
3/ praise and
4/ prayer

Today, we could call these four techniques by different terms and, could define them further and briefly as:

1/ inner listening, for meditation
2/ heart connection, for contemplation.
3/ state of gratitude and thankfulness, for praise.
4/ inner talking and sincere asking, for prayer.

I am not in religion. After all each of the three Abrahamic religions are keeping the true techniques and knowledge well hidden from the mass and devotees whom they feed instead with superstition in order to keep them in fear and under their control as an established organization, very much as in a pyramidal system. The faster people free themselves from those organization and replace superstition by truth and light, the sooner we'll reach a state of enlightenment for all.

You said, I was wondering how prayer fits into the big picture if we are all "God"?
Good question. So, who to are we really listening, connecting, gratefully rending grace and asking?
Some may know already, the answer is: the spirit, our own and individual Spirit, the Holy Spirit... the same spirit Carla calls 'Holy' or 'Holly' (spelling may needs checking). What we call "God" is the unity represented by the body/mind/spirit complex where the spirit is a part of. So, yes we are what we call God, each of us is but then, for being God, the requisite is to have connected with our spirit and to keep ourselves (the ego part called also the mind) in constant connection with our spirit at all time. Uniting those three parts within us is when we become ONE and, is the meaning of the Law of One. This is the awakened state, the adept state which one reaches when we have touched Intelligent Infinity (Ra's term).
The touching of Intelligent Infinity IS the connection with the spirit and, the bringing back of our Spirit within us. We say then that the Spirit is in us.

We then become One and, the Spirit then becomes our only guide. Angel
I Mean that there are many steps to the state of Unity and, those are all valid and perfect but when you connect with spirit then there is no need for other guides than our Spirit. Smile

For me, prayer influences the Field. Our words create ripples from a higher density that filter down and do things. The more emotional influence we have behind our words, the more effective they can be.

I agree. The emotional body gives the prayer its power of manifestation. This is why heart power is so much emphasized in all spiritual work, including LofO.

By "emotion" are y'all referring to a spinning chakra?

I struggle with defining both.

I've heard you can't create in someone else's reality, so praying to change someone else won't work.

I think it changes our mindset toward who we pray for. Kind of a process of achieving forgiveness and acceptance.

EDIT: Unless of course we actually believe we are changing someone else. That would be a practice in futility. Which is what you were saying. (inserting foot in mouth)

You can't exercise someone's will on their behalf, but you can introduce catalyst and possibilities - in other words, introduce potential for work to be done. That potential is limited by what is capable of being accepted by both parties.

Zen, do you mean by direct influence, such as by what you say or do in their presence? Or you can introduce catalyst in another through prayer, or indigo work?

I've tuned into others and they tell me they feel warm fuzzies when I do so. That I think is catalyst.

Some excerpts from Q'uo on "The function and use of emotions"
http://www.llresearch.org/newsletters/issues/2009_4.pdf

Quote:Whereas the mind moves from thought to thought, generally governed by logic and the intellect, the heart moves from emotion to emotion, generally with no intellectual component whatsoever. For emotions are those gifts of the heart that stem from the very depths and roots of your consciousness. ...

Each person has a different and unique mentality and personality. However, as members of the tribe of humankind on your planet in third density, you share one consciousness. Your jealousy and another’s jealousy has the same energy. Your love and another’s love of a certain frequency has the same energy. It is emotions rather than thoughts which unite your people. ...

...there is no connection betwixt color and the emotions. They cannot be attached to any one chakra or ray....

Consequently, as a spiritual seeker, each time an emotion arises you are working to feel it without shrinking from it or reaching towards it, the goal being not to do anything with the emotion except to allow it to sink into the consciousness of the present moment....

It is possible, indeed probable, that some sort of ongoing contemplation of the archetypal mind may help the seeker to evaluate and think about the experiences of emotion that he has....

...emotion, like the rivers and lakes of your planet, is an ever flowing, ever changing, ever evolving water system, shall we say, or circulation system of the consciousness of the one Creator....

it is to the one who trusts each and every emotion enough to give it space and time in which to articulate itself within your awareness that emotions shall begin to offer you the reward of that feeling of oneself that goes beyond the linear....

The nature of the human is to be ethically oriented and to desire to serve, to love and to know. Trust your emotions to help you learn these things. And as you relate to others, trust the emotions in them that resonate with your own in terms of dealing with each entity at the soul level.

Thank you Q'uo. Smile
Because prayers and requests are powered by emotions, it is always helpful to understand more about them.

Depends on how one would define their "prayer". "prayer" could be an attempt to communicate with intelligent energy, just like "indigo work". I just see the symbolic elements suggested and address what seems to need adjustment. To me it works quickly, however there is a period beforehand which requires some time re-familiarizing with balance. Definitely something that works differently for each person, based on how they relate to or dialog with their own imaginations.

I like this "dialog with your imagination", because my imagination can be strong. I after all had a creation within me that felt very real. But this had a tendency to pull my mind and body to dark places. So balance is always important. Some of the catalyst now is getting weirder.

RE: Prayer...Whom do you pray to? Are we just talking to ourselves? - Richard - 11-22-2011

I don't know that I actually "pray" in the contemporary sense. Though, I do ask for blessings for my loved ones and any who might need something to their highest good each morning. Beyond that, I have sort of a meandering discourse with the Creator about things that are happening.

I usually end that talk with the following from a Qu'o session (can't remember which one) that has always resonated well with me.

What is your will for me today?
How shall I serve? What shall I experience?
And, in what shall I rejoice?

Richard
