Losing track of body in meditation - AnthroHeart - 10-03-2016

Does one simply focus on their breathing and try to clear their mind to get to a meditative state where you lose track of the body?

I get so many itches though, and I get odd thoughts about what I want to do once I get to that state. Anticipation.

What's a good technique of meditation?

Sorry if I'm asking too much.

This is something I thought of to use for myself and which I found useful.

There should be moments of your life where you have reached higher balanced states of mind. In meditation empty yourself and seek to internalize the gaze you had at your highest moment, and breath in and out maintaining that state.

You can apply above method with moment you felt best, or most happy, or anything of the kind.

Not sure it's what you seek but might be what you need.

Great question Indigo! One that I find helpful as well.
The technique I use in meditation is to focus on my breathing. Feeling itches and sensations is normal. Use your judgment to determine whether the itch can be ignored or scratched. Sometimes the sensation goes away on its own. But releasing awareness of the body is kind of hard when your attention is focused on an itch that won't go away on its own.

I haven't mastered losing track of bodily sensation and focus yet. I've had times where, for a moment, I would "lose track" and it felt different! Like I was floating, there was a sense of lightness.

So I would recommend daily persistent practice and focusing on one's breath. I'm doing the same thing though. Maybe others on this forum have some insights to share! Smile

I tend to focus on the feeling of 'flow' because if I focus only on my breathing I gain too much control over it and it loses its rhythm. I try to keep aware of 'continous movement' and any stop in movement I just gently push to keep it going.

On a similar note to what Aion said, breathe with your energy field and not your lungs.
