struggling with the "quote" function in replies - Agua del Cielo - 01-14-2017

i seem to struggle with quoting when I post a reply to a thread.
You guys often have multiple quotes in your replies (with posters name on top and everything on white background).

I managed to quote an entire text, I can shorten the text, but when I try to put in multiple quotes, I mess it all up and everything becomes one unreadable mess.

Can someone point me to ahow this works?

Thanks in advance Smile

When I quote multiple parts of a post or multiple posts, I usually do it manually, by copying and pasting the part of the post I want to quote and adding it to my post and adding [ quote] [ /quote] around it (without the spaces). It's more manageable for me. If you put quote='namehere' it will tag who you are quoting. Hope that work around helps!

new accounts default to the WYSIWYG editor, which is not that great.  When you hit the reply button, this is what you normally see:

if you click the button that I've pointed to (purple arrow), the screen will change to this:

so you can edit the code directly.  If you play around with the quote tags (copy and paste), you can structure things exactly how you want.  And reply to individual portions of the original post.

if you want that to be the 'permanent mode' you can change it in your account settings, under Edit Options / Other Options / Put the Editor in source mode by default.

(it's at the bottom of the right hand column)

I'll give it a try!
