Why do you think Ra, Quo, and other entities who respect our free will admonish us repeatedly to believe only what resonates with us?
In my view, it is because they realize that we are each creating our own realities, and adding to the infinitude of All that Is, moment by moment with our thoughts. In order that there is freewill and therefore an infinite array of parallel realities stemming from our various choices, we have the option of realizing that the choice is ours of which thought, idea, or truth to follow. We have the choice of believing or not believing a thought whether we are reminded of the choice or not. So it seems to me that there is an effort to guide us back to willful consciousness of our choices. Can we accelerate our evolution and harvestability this way? Are we empowering ourselves to have a greater capacity for service?

It allows for moving ahead, and making a choice quicker, whether it be the right way, or the left way.

I agree with your take more or less. It's one thing to believe something is true; you accept it and then your mental model of the world takes it for granted without re-examining or challenging it again. It's another thing -- an entirely different mode of thought -- to understand that you believe it, that believing it doesn't make it true, or false, or right, or wrong. That because you believe it, you have a responsibility. You are in charge of the thoughts, feelings and actions generated by the choice believing. You have to decide what your response to those thoughts, feelings and actions are. You are "not allowed" (so to speak) to just treat the belief as a given and mold your experience around it in a passive manner.
Because there's no way for us to know and accept ourselves without understanding these choices we have made, the last thing Confederation sources would want to do is substitute their authority for our choice. It's not merely that that would be authoritarian; it's that we would not appreciate our beliefs as much if we didn't own them and reflect on them. The experience of belief is itself a form of catalyst, I'd argue, or at least the environment in which catalyst plays out.
Of course, there is catalyst as well in accepting a belief because an authority told you to believe it and then figuring out that that's no substitute for responsibility and volition. But given mankind's history with dictatorial, prescriptive religions, I think Confederation sources are wise to go the extra mile in pointing out our role in the game and our power.
There's probably some karmic dynamic at play, given the fact that Ra incurred responsibilities for interfering in human history before. Perhaps they can no longer afford the karma of people hanging on their every word, especially the more directly they speak of the illusion.

As far as I know, Ra never said to take only what resonates. They did say that their information would not be useful to everyone and would make sense to relatively aware wanderers.

- They tried to choose the right words, but knew they didn't always get them right.
- The "transmission" wasn't perfect, so the channel might have gotten words different than ones they sent.
- Different listeners/readers would take what they heard/read differently.
- They wanted each person to use discernment always, for every session and every source.
- Encourages a listener/reader who is not ready for information to disregard it.
- Subtly tells listener/reader to suspect any source that doesn't admonish like that.
- It's classy.

After thinking about it, something that "resonates" matches your frequency, which is not exactly advancing, just maybe helping "aim". If you only follow what resonates it sounds a bit like following a "belief". I consider beliefs to be walls. So it may help accumulate a base to get to a point of understanding, but I don't consider the idea to be particularly empowering.

I agree, Pickle. I also think we/I use the term to describe growing into a new vibration. 'It resonates' might be better termed 'I resonate'. Sometimes. I think we could use them interchangably.
