RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - zenmaster - 03-04-2012 It would be ironic if it was a chunk of Maldek and it hit a Bigfoot. RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - Bring4th_Austin - 03-04-2012 "In a massive explosion lies the stoppage of the wheel of action, or what you call karma." RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - Parsons - 03-04-2012 Lol Zen, then neither could be confirmed so the whole situation could be safely ignored by the general public. ![]() As for the meteor... /shrug It certainly doesn't make me fearful. RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - zenmaster - 03-04-2012 But did NASA confirm it had a "good chance" of colliding with Earth? Quote:For the tl;dr crowd, let’s get this out of the way right away: asteroid 2012 DA14 is almost certainly not going to hit the Earth next February. And by "almost certainly", I mean it: the odds of an impact are so low they are essentially zero. This does not rule out an impact at some future date, but for now we’re safe.http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/03/04/no-asteroid-2012-da14-will-not-hit-us-next-year/ RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - drifting pages - 03-04-2012 http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/03/04/no-asteroid-2012-da14-will-not-hit-us-next-year/ It will not hit because it is to fast, it would have to be travelling lower then 26.00 km altitude. And even if it had fallen, it would only obliterate at maximum a big city(very unlikely this is a big planet in comparison), if it had fallen on the ocean the tsunami would be 30 cm high.... lol RE: 60-meter (197-feet) asteroid has a good chance of colliding with Earth - Bring4th_Austin - 03-04-2012 (03-04-2012, 11:19 PM)zenmaster Wrote: But did NASA confirm it had a "good chance" of colliding with Earth? The article I posted seems to have been edited. My topic title was copy-pasted straight from the first paragraph, which now says "NASA's data shows the 60-meter asteroid, spotted by Spanish stargazers in February, will whistle by Earth in 11 months." Sorry for the poor source guys. |
