Milky Way Documentary - AnthroHeart - 08-21-2012

I found this interesting, giving some insight into our galactic Logos.

It was fascinating that the Milky Way could be much larger than we assume, due to the presence of dark matter. The globular clusters were also interesting in how old they were. It shows the galaxy could be older than thought.

Here's some fascinating information about what happens when two neutron stars collide. I am amazed at the amount of kinetic energy in there.

"What happens during the collision?

This movie shows the results of a supercomputer simulation of what might happen when two neutron stars in a binary system collide. By the time they hit each other, they're traveling at nearly the speed of light, and orbit each other a thousand times a second. According to the calculations, the two neutron stars merge together in less than a hundredth of a second and release more energy during that time than our Sun would in ten billion years!"
