COINTELPRO Techniques for dilution, misdirection and control of a internet forum..

There are several techniques for the control and manipulation of a internet forum no matter what, or who is on it. We will go over each technique and demonstrate that only a minimal number of operatives can be used to eventually and effectively gain a control of a 'uncontrolled forum.'

Technique #1 - 'FORUM SLIDING'

If a very sensitive posting of a critical nature has been posted on a forum - it can be quickly removed from public view by 'forum sliding.' In this technique a number of unrelated posts are quietly prepositioned on the forum and allowed to 'age.' Each of these misdirectional forum postings can then be called upon at will to trigger a 'forum slide.' The second requirement is that several fake accounts exist, which can be called upon, to ensure that this technique is not exposed to the public. To trigger a 'forum slide' and 'flush' the critical post out of public view it is simply a matter of logging into each account both real and fake and then 'replying' to prepositined postings with a simple 1 or 2 line comment. This brings the unrelated postings to the top of the forum list, and the critical posting 'slides' down the front page, and quickly out of public view. Although it is difficult or impossible to censor the posting it is now lost in a sea of unrelated and unuseful postings. By this means it becomes effective to keep the readers of the forum reading unrelated and non-issue items.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Oceania - 11-22-2012

why would someone do that? what critical posting?

RE: Taking control of a forum - Ashim - 11-22-2012

So called 'sensitive information'. Secrets for want of a better word.
Stuff people should not be exposed to.

Sorry to bump again but I just remembered that one can go into 'chat mode' - also very effective at de-railing athread.

This whole article is really interesting.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Oceania - 11-22-2012

i don't think that would happen here. the whole forum is full of sensitive information.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Unbound - 11-22-2012

I don't think so either, what I find more interesting is all the information after the "Forum Control" section.

This has been going on here from the word go.
We are very grateful for the Service of those providing this catalyst for our spiritual growth.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Oceania - 11-22-2012

Tongue seriously who's taking control here?

RE: Taking control of a forum - Ashim - 11-22-2012

No one. Control was installed before kick off.
Now it's us. We control.
Lord Lucifer is going on holiday.
A little golf, a little sand and sun - you know.

Id be curious to know about what percent of the population goes to internet forums. Specifically the ones that are high enough volume to make many of the listed tactics worthwhile. By and large while I do not doubt that most/all internet forums are data mined and tracked for key phrases, im not sure how much manipulation takes place on that end. As ive never really heard of a story that really broke out on an internet forum (that I can recall at least), im a little skeptical of the idea of active manipulation on forums.

Especially since some of the ones listed as examples tend to be "tin foil hat brigade" type forums.

There are some forums out there that when you say something with honesty and challenge someone's ideas or information, you conveniently get labeled as 'cointelpro,' which could be cointelpro... and it goes on to infinity and stuck at that conspiracy level.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Goldenratio - 11-22-2012

Sounds like a heavy dose of confirmation bias

Regarding tin foil hats. Kevin Spacey makes some interesting comments in this clip from the making of K-Pax DVD.

KPax what a great movie. i had it on vhs.

RE: Taking control of a forum - hogey11 - 11-24-2012

reddit's chief site architect had to send out a public twitter to the JIDF a few months back because they were manipulating the website (maybe the biggest forum on the internet?) in a pretty substantial way against the TOS. This type of stuff definitely happens, and far more than one would think.

Think how manipulative someone who was paid to monitor and 'steer' a couple different forums would be? They would have time and motive to more or less study the forum top to bottom and really get into the meta-aspects of its populations and culture. It's the same as intelligence operations but without all the risk and and nothing really to lose. It makes a lot of sense from an intelligence perspective; public 'discussion' formats are dying out to forums and podcasts pretty quick, so I think to assume that the intelligence community isn't already involved is kinda silly. Also, with all the focus on 'terrorism', spending time in fringe areas like internet forums has probably been optimized to be very efficient for groups like them.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Oceania - 11-24-2012

it's the mainstream sites that are the problem. they sway public opinion. but it's not something to freak out over, it's been happening for ages.

RE: Taking control of a forum - hogey11 - 11-25-2012

I'm not freaking out; it's just something that happens on both big forums and small. What matters is what is being said.

RE: Taking control of a forum - BrownEye - 11-25-2012

What matters is lack of discernment.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Oceania - 11-25-2012

well exactly. if you have discernment you won't be manipulated. too bad the sheeple on reddit lack such.

Another way is when people just simply divert all attention to themselves

I have a friend who is closely associated with the democratic party and its well known in political circles that it has been standard practice to pay people to.post anonymously in forums but especially the comments section of news articles in order to spin public opinion. Apparently its not even considered secret or a big deal, but rather standard practice.

Thats why the internet is, for the most part, moving to darknet or altnet.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Ashim - 04-28-2013

Probably the fastest way to 'flush' important or sensitive posts into obscurity would be to make a bunch of senseless comments on other peoples threads and just bump the message not meant to be seen.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Dinko - 04-28-2013

i will take control of the forum

RE: Taking control of a forum - kainous - 04-28-2013

All your base are belong to Dinko! Someone set us up the bomb.

RE: Taking control of a forum - Jamie35 - 04-28-2013

Why does any one man want to take control? This is a silly idea to want to control anything. Anyone or anything who wants to take control must be rejected by those of the light for it is STS to even want to control.

As for Counter Intelligence to know those who seek to stop those on the path of polarization towards service to others. Keep your eye wide open, expect attacks from all corners. Do not let your guard down. Communicate with others to form networks in order to prepare for the dark ones who now search for the one who will carry the conscience.

Why was it not meant to be seen?
