Perhaps we don't become beings of light till we cross the 4D threshold. Or we already are beings of light, and this could be walking the steps of light. As we acclimate to more light, we get lighter ourselves. The darkness of the figure could just be the contrast of a being compared to the amount of love/light that surrounds him.
