That's an interesting point.  What indicates to you that it holds any truth?

It contradicts my experience. One can do "magical workings," indeed, either positive or negative, entirely on a subconscious level and become conscious of them later on.  It's kind of weird, I'll admit, but it can happen if your subconscious has a mind of its own, as it were.

If you don't mind a personal note, other self, you're placing a rather heavy emphasis on the "power" of a personal consciousness, when that's actually a fairly weak thing in and of itself.  It really begins to blossom, in my view, when it vibrates sympathetically with its "larger self," however that may be felt and interpreted.  Conscious direction of intention is a significant offering made by the ego-self or by some other, more interesting portion of self, yet it remains a small part of the action within the entire web of work in consciousness, I would say.  In other words, yes, it's kind of cool to see what you can see and do what you think you might be doing, but as faith deepens and the desire to serve opens out, these things lose much of their glamour.  This leaves one bereft of a sense of the importance of "conscious attention," (bummer, I agree) yet most happy to be participating in a structure far surpassing in beauty what one could have possibly concocted with scope conscious attention limiting the field of work.

    Hey, thanks again!

“[Y]ou're placing a rather heavy emphasis on the "power" of a personal consciousness, when that's actually a fairly weak thing in and of itself.”

It is indeed. A fact which answers the question nicely: Why, with so many good, helping people on The Earth, is our harvest so stunted?

I think it is due to an underdeveloped will.

We seem to agree that”magical” work is not accomplished by our conscious intent or direction of our attention alone. I leave this to the category of subconscious work. They operate simultaneously. Consciousness does “blossom” in its effect when we receive what I call “help”, or what you call vibrating sympathetically with the high self. To me this is an act of will. We use our own wish for greater awareness to initiate this process. Our conscious intent, through willfully directed attention, will grow to the point where where a greater sense of awareness is experienced.

Certainly, this would not work the other way around, where we are less and less aware of what is going on as we develop, supported only by our feebly constructed wish to evolve, and the disposition of the other entities involved in the moment of experience.

Don’t get me wrong, I have great respect for what I call “subconscious work”, however I do not believe it directly impacts our polarity- only in the sense that its activity has been honed by our conscious working.

In broad terms I would say it's walking the spiritual path with mindfulness and awareness. But I have friends who don't consciously walk the spiritual path, yet nevertheless, they walk their unique path and it includes work in consciousness, whether they label it as such or not.

I think there are many different personal meanings. But discipline of the personality is along the same lines.

Does this mean you disagree with my post?  I am saying that consciousness is only possible with awareness. Moreover, it is only the portion of our awareness that we are able to access with our attention in a given moment.
As an example, I may be aware that my keys are on the table- because I put them there- but when I begin looking for them, that knowledge is not accessible to my consciousness.

Can "mindfulness, awareness, balance, forgiveness, beingness...meditation, visualization [and] knowing the self occur without conscious work?
    If so how?
If conscious work is "walking the spiritual path with mindfulness and awareness", the what of your friends who are not on the "spiritual path?' how is their work in consciousness different?

    .

Good questions, and thank you for challenging me to expand these thoughts.

I have one friend in my mind who consciously seeks truth and seeks to know herself, but without any sort of metaphysical or spiritual understanding (at least not labeling them as such consciously). That is the wall I am up against when we are discussing philosophy and psychology. She understands the validity of the spiritual point of view with me, but she doesn't seem to think much of it.

My understanding is that we each have a very unique and personal path. What works for me may not be for you. She understands this and respects that. She's willing to challenge preconceived opinions and false view, she thinks for herself and trusts in herself.

I bring in spiritual concepts all the time into our conversations, and she understands them and has reached those understandings through her own processes. So despite our different points of view, we are having a rich conversation in which both of us are learning from each other.

If this is at all clear, this is what I meant. Lol

I recently listened to Mary-Margaret Moore where she spoke about this, and she said "God is not xerox machine". That stuck with me, every single path is unique.
