My take on it is that what's being removed is one's resistance or attachment or some other sort of personal involvement. The "core," I expect, is not the ego traits. These, as I understand it, become progressively more transparent until....they.......dis........app.....e...a..... --for all intents & purposes.

What's paradoxical about it, is that as ego falls away, nothing is lost. In fact, there's so much more. More opportunities, more enjoyment, more love, more light, more friendship, more fun. You could live the rest of your life in an egoless state and you wouldn't lose a thing from any viewpoint except the ego's.

Ego here meaning I want, I need, I did this and that, I'm this or that. Not meaning the harmless and unassuming sense of I.

Yes that sounds lovely Aaron! I think I could live with that Smile
especially since I am being bombarded with yellow-ray ego issues lately and it sometimes gets a bit too much, ... but then it all serves a purpose and it is all in preparation for the big event, isn't it? All is as should be.

I think premature slicing, and waiting for the re-runs, can be quite helpful if there's physical illness to deal with.

Oops, I think I need to provide yet further clarification. (Story of my life!)

If such "scales" can be cut prematurely, then I don't know about it. My familiarity is in the realm where the conscious acceptance and intention to clear these things lines up with unconscious acceptance and intention and some catalytic energy becomes available to empower the disburdening.

What I think I meant above is that even if some layers of the onion are removed, you're still dealing with an onion until the onion is removed.

I think it's possible to a degree, so the degree in itself may be seen as a disqualification... I think I meant that the disburdening can be staggered, if all these things don't line up at once (uuhh... in linear time...)
Years ago I was helped by a gifted psychic with some physical pain, but didn't really balance the whole issue until months later. Probably what that means is that the physical pain was no longer needed once the issue was brought out in the open, even though the 'work' wasn't done yet.

I mean, if I understand right, it is about likening these layers to our ego personality traits. Do we really have to get rid of everything?
Well, there may be a few sub-onions... I think the point of peeling the onion layers is getting through to the core, which isn't really onion anymore. It may still have some essence of onion, but it usually doesn't make you cry...

Now, why am I getting hungry?

Haha, AppleSeed, I like that... but then I have always liked onions and they never make me cry, not matter how many I peel. Btw, have you ever tasted French onion soup? with white wine, a piece of baguette and cheese on top and bake in the oven... yummy!

Tongue Haven't had that since I was a kid, but I like onions in practically any form, even though they do make me cry!
