I really like the thought experiments in this thread.
My next remark will not make them easier: the Big Bang and the expanding universe are not to be taken for facts yet. Both are the result of one interpretation of measurements, where several others exist. And both are mathematical constructs. In the realm of mathematics anything is possible as long as an equation can be constructed. The real world (s/t+t/s) is where mathematical results should be verified to validate them.

Big Bang theory has over the years become Big Bang Dogma.

Have been reading up on this recently, currently reading through space and time. It's hard for me to understand but this thread had helped greatly.

I have Nothing But Motion. By chance, a few months ago I came across Beyond Newton at a large book sale from my local library plus local donors. It was surprising..came from someone's large personal library.

You might also find it worthwhile to read Space, Time, and Deity by Samuel Alexander. Larson apparently never mentioned Alexander as an influence, but it has been suggested that he obviously read his work. I started to read Larson, jumped over to Alexander, then got sidetracked with some of my own ideas.
