I have made a conscious habit that usually helps me kick start dreaming in an aware state. It is a common trick used by lucid dreamers. You pinch close your nostrils and try to take a deep breath in through it anyway. If you are in your dream body you will draw breath without a problem and it helps verify that you don´t need to live by physical limitation at the moment. Every time I truly become aware of being in my non physical body it feels like a little vacation from physical life. I find it very refreshing no matter where the dream goes from there =)

Also writing a D (for "Dreaming") on your hand, and every time you look at it to ask yourself if you are dreaming. You will start to do so in dreams too. But unfortunately when I ask myself in dreams I always say no.

In a dream someone once told me I was dreaming, but I didn't believe them.

In another dream, I told everyone that we were only dreaming, but I wasn't really lucid.
