thanks kanon.
I particularly like the last couple of sentences that you quoted; which may not be directly relevant to the thread title, but are truthful none-the-less.
Quo-man said: "When one is mindful one finds oneself slowly able to release the fear that has caused the distortion that has created for the self an armor against that which is perceived as a threat. To one continuously aware of the self as love there are no threats, there is only remembrance of the truth of love."
this is so so true!! when one has put down roots into the deep mind, one becames as unshakable as a great oak tree. Words and actions directed against such an individual have no effect; the self is totally transparent and can see the other for what it is; a being acting out of serious delusion and deserving of nothing but compassionate love as the response; no matter how seemingly vile and plastering the attacks may be. Threats are seen as empty; and nothing more than a distorted calling for love; much like a dog that has been beaten or an animal that has been mistreated, those beings which act with threats and violence are damaged and unwhole souls; perpetuating their inner distortions into an outer act. All things are love indeed!!
the bit you bolded here is also good kanon:
"But as love is all there is, so with your free will you may create ponderous illusion upon illusion, finding perverse comfort in negative emotion, for it is familiar, and that which is familiar is safe, and that which is unfamiliar is not."
how very true! I've engaged in acts of OCD-like behaviour, been engaged in unending loops of negative emotion ... and it like all that I knew. During those times of youth and ignorance I didn't even realise there was another way of being! my parents showed me no example of self-actualised learning (I don't blame them, it was just the way 'they' were brought up, and they had very little opportunities for self-reflection and self-development. They were the workers of the sort that Ra describes as working from 'sunup to sundown' with little opportunity to consider the Law of One). And I had no other examples of self-empowered individuals. Well, there was one friend in primary school and another in high school, but my attitudes towards them were more along the lines of envy rather than believing it was possible to become like that myself.
but yeah, I didn't 'believe' that things could be changed. That which is 'familiar' is just accepted as reality; and the unfamiliar was the province of what took place in foreign contries in foreign lands; far distant from this little being here :d
well, thanks again for the quotes and the opportunity to wax lyrical here : d
peace brother
