my understanding is that through approval/disapproval we create inequalities in our mind with regards to the assessing of other beings by judging their externalised qualities or characteristics.

The approval/disapproval as Ra relates is simply what you like and what you don't like, and that's generally with regard to anything. The discovery of why that disposition is the case may provide an opportunity for acceptance of imbalance.
