It's a tough question. Perhaps the issue is whether or not people should be keeping bees as a primary source of income, and if we were to regard the hobby only as a sacred act, then one wouldn't have to worry about supporting beekeepers in that way. What's crazy is that the honey bee isn't native to North America, yet our size and system of agriculture requires pollinators. From what I've read, your average beekeeper certainly has a reverence for and a love of bees. Most areas have their own local beekeeping societies that meet monthly, which are invaluable.
