the following 2 quotes come from Ra's observations regards the Emperor Card, or card 4 of the Archetypes. The Emperor is representative of the Experience of the Mind.

Ra Wrote:This is not only correct but there is a further ramification. As the entity increases in experience it shall, more and more, choose positive interpretations of catalyst if it is upon the service-to-others path and negative interpretations of catalyst if its experience has been along the service-to-self path.

    and:

Ra Wrote:The nature of experience is such that the attention shall be constantly given varieties of experience. Those that are presumed to be negative, or interpreted as negative, may seem in abundance. It is a great challenge to take catalyst and devise the magical, positive experience. That which is magical in the negative experience is much longer coming, shall we say, in the third density.

now, from my understanding of things, a 'negative interpretation of catalyst' would be using that which is offered to see separation. In Ra's second quote, they highlight the fact that catalyst is much often initially received as 'unwelcome', or seen as a way of forcing us to address something that we don't quite want to deal with. The 'catalyst', negatively perceived, highlights a separation. That is the initial perception.

What one does after this point is the province of this Card. A positive turning of catalyst would have as the final result a feeling of greater unity or acceptance of that which represented the initial catalyst. In Ra's description of anger, they paint a poetic picture:

Positive orientation then provides the will and faith to continue this mentally intense experience of letting the anger be understood, accepted, and integrated with the mind/body/spirit complex. The other-self which is the object of anger is thus transformed into an object of acceptance, understanding, and accommodation, all being reintegrated using the great energy which anger began.

The negatively oriented mind/body/spirit complex will use this anger in a similarly conscious fashion, refusing to accept the undirected or random energy of anger and instead, through will and faith, funneling this energy into a practical means of venting the negative aspect of this emotion so as to obtain control over other-self, or otherwise control the situation causing anger.

Control is the key to negatively polarized use of catalyst. Acceptance is the key to positively polarized use of catalyst. Between these polarities lies the potential for this random and undirected energy creating a bodily complex analog of what you call the cancerous growth of tissue.

negative interpretation of catalyst continues to hold the 'other-self' as being separate from the self; ie we are not alike, we have nothing in common.

positive interpretation aims to see the commonality between the two perceived aspects of the self and the other-self. Ultimately, that acceptance comes from delving into shadow work, and being able to see how the other-self represented an aspect of projection.
