A couple of years ago, there was a big buzz about this in the New Age community. Apparently, you aren't the only person who has experienced this phenomenon. People were reporting bursts of light, accompanied by "packets" (for want of a better term) of spiritual enlightenment, which seemed to originate from the direction of the constellation Cygnus.

Andrew Collins (among others) investigated this issue, and wrote a book which makes some sweeping claims concerning Cygnus. Here's a link to a web page about his book:
