I had a necklace stolen from me about a year ago, which was my mother's and one of the last physical relics I had left from her. That one really hurt. But like you, I just tried to take it as a lesson in the impermanence of physical things and, of course, that I didn't need a bit of shiny rock to remember her or have that connection.
