Hi Dino,
I remember noticing the same thing when I was young. Specifically, when told about air, and space and atoms, I wondered how anyone could know about them if no one could see them. So I began focusing on the air, or the tiniest things I could visually perceive in the air or on my skin, etc. I was able to 'see' 'air' (or what I perceived as air ... maybe just rods and cones bursting images of minutiae in my brain ... don't know). At any rate, this was before cable, and before digital screens, but the closest thing I remembered at the time was white noise on an analog television, except much much tinier. Like I can see 'atoms' or 'air' strobing like pixels on an LCD monitor. I see this constantly now, like when you've trained your eyes to see one of those hidden 3D pictures (took me forever to see one the first time), but once you do it once, you can do it at will thereafter, and it's just a matter of 'refocusing' your vision.
I also get the tingling sensation you describe up my spine (or upper back/neck) most often related to reading spiritually focused material (i.e. this or related sites), or during meditation when I find a 'relaxed' and 'centered' place (i.e. hakuna matata -- no worries).
Thanks for sharing -- Peace and Joy as you desire it,
Jason
