I think real forgiveness derives from detachment, as opposed to emotional forgiveness which may be ephemeral in nature. When the strings of expectations, attachment, need, and enmeshment are cut, one may then see the other without conditions, and paradoxically, be more truly connected. At that point one experiences the other without one's ego, need, or desire, and this detachment embodies forgiveness as there is nothing to forgive. It is my view that "forgiveness" is an emotional concept; while detachment is the bigger picture. Detachment oddly is the opposite of coldness and non-caring. Detachment opens the heart completely because there are no expectations to close the doors of the heart. It's the recognition, allowance, and acceptance of all things.
