Imo the 12 signs of the zodiac are more to be seen like archetypes, just like in Tarot. I have been working with astrology for quite some time now and it has served me well to explain things in my character or also strange coincidental occurrences, when looking at transits at the time certain things were happening.
It just depends on how you use it. you can get fixated on it and never leave the house without consulting your stars, or you just use it to learn more about yourself.
