And so, to free ourselves from subjective perception, we strive to look without wanting to see anything.

Indeed this is so. It is the hallmark of the both the 'open-minded fanatic' (sees what they want as long as it's desirable) and the 'debunker' (claims that everything already exists in their worldview). Both are equally in the dark.
