Presumably nuts and seeds don't want to be eaten, either. They are alive, too, and, one would think, desire to be planted and to grow into whatever they are the seeds of.
Fruits should be OK, though, from this point of view, as long as eating them doesn't harm their seeds.
What about dairy products and non-fertile eggs? Have those been addressed in this thread? They don't require killing animals.
