So manipulative advertising techniques... which exploit unconsciousness and imbalance in its targeted recipients....and which utilize quite a range of sophisticated marketing concepts devised by those with a perspective of greater awareness of how the human subconscious mind operates....would fit the definition of negative greeting in my understanding.

When the necessary abstractions are made for the sake of convenience and the analog is taken to absurdity, then yes it fits the definition.
