Are you talking about divination? For that type of use it is only an amplifier. What are you amplifying? It is also possible to have a relationship with the deva.

Really, it is a tool only, and the usefulness of a tool is dependant on the hand that wields it. My range of effectiveness driving a nail through a board is not that great with my bare hands. Tongue
