"If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we wouldn’t need this debate."

    Exactly.
Also, if goverment decisions were made with clear and unmodifiable public records available on each transaction and reasoning without every decision and project, hm.

My question is this, however: what is it that we need to face to realize that our consensus reality is the result of our collective ideas and thinking? Animals should be off the menu, but not because of some ruling or because of a law. Animals should be off the menu because we, one by one, family by family, circles of friends after one each other, realize that we do not need red meat to survive. We are not being attacked. We do not need to kill animals to survive. We are not fighting for our lives every day.

Removing meat from the menu is an amazing idea, but only if paired in paralell with tons of other inventions and ideas that allows one to relieve, process and face their fears and stress, because otherwise people would just destruct themselves and their environment in new ways, without evolving on.
...on the other hand, wtf. Desperate times and desperate measures. Even banning it would be a good idea at this point. (not like the above suggest a banning, just a "stop buying" encouragement.) Everything is a good idea, after all - the question is, who gets to watch the show with all the alternate endings : P
