The Spiritual Use of Entheogens

This 'lettuce high' was really interesting. For a minute there I actually felt like I did at the beginning of an acid trip...but that was as far as it went. I actually wondered "so is there such a thing as flashbacks 30 years later after all?" it was that weird.

Maybe wild lettuce is my new plant ally....haha.

Wild lettuce produces a compound called (if I remember correctly), lactucarium, which is opiate-like and attaches to opiate receptors in the brain. Back in high school, a friend of mine and I (both of us being handy at chemistry) tried to extract lactucarium from domestic lettuce, without success.

Another entheogenic plant which might well be growing in your back yard (especially if you have a damp weedy spot) is reed canary grass, which produces DMT. The grass is very common and grows in weedy, unmowed spots across most of the eastern U.S. Instructions for extracting DMT from it are easily found online, and it's a simple procedure for anyone with some practical wet chemistry experience. Be advised, though, that anyone witnessing the equipment for this process will at once discern what you're doing.
