A huge thank you, Steve! You burned several containers of midnight oil, worked your tail off, and didn't let up until you made the transition. All while juggling family and work. Thank you for all the long hours you've put into getting the website over to a new web host!

It seems faster to me, too. The only glitch I've noticed so far is that we seem to have lost five or six days of Jim and Carla's blog.

Wasn't much of a difference in the initial hours after the move, though I must say it is very fast now. Great job Steve.

Good catch on the locked subforums, Plenum.

We had to lock them so that no posts would go missing when the new server became active. So I will jump in there now and active them.

Thanks again, guys, glad it all turned out well.

And the support at KnownHost is UNREAL. I have never experienced a better host provider in my career of working with various web hosts. Their support responds to any tickets I file within a few minutes, and they are definitely on top of their game. Very pleased they are providing service.

An issue that will probably resolve itself in the next few days as servers update their DNS information: my work computer is still redirecting to the old forums (it still has the red bar at the top saying the forums are being upgraded) while my 3G phone connection and my home cable connection are going to the new server. It may be an issue related to my workplace redirecting through a proxy from my location in Phoenix through eastern Canada.

Steve, there seem to be a lot of people who are "banned" from Strictly Law of One forum, myself included. Could you please look at it, when you have time? BigSmile

Ankh, I'm not sure what's going on, because the permissions for that forum are set so everyone can post. I've tried it on two accounts, and I am able to create replies in both the Strictly section and the Archetypes section. Would you mind providing a cut-and-paste of the error you are getting? A screenshot would work, too.

After seeing what you're getting for error messages, I'll attempt to look deeper into the issue. Perhaps there's a caching issue with the database and it needs to be purged.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Thanks, let me make some changes and I'll ask you all to retry. It has to work at some point! I'm pretty sure something is not processing right in the database.

Thanks for helping out with this issue...

Not sure if its just me, but the server seems to be taking 10+ seconds to respond when I submit a post or send a private message for the past few hours from this posting. It does seem to eventually go through.

Just got this error when I tried to send a PM:

    "Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@bring4th.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

    ----

Update: My PM actually went through despite the above error, unbeknownst to me, so I ended up sending it twice Smile

It's been very difficult to post and send PMs lately.

Sometimes it says "server 404 problem", but it does post, and so one ends up with double or more posts or PMs which are the same. It is also very slow, and disconnection to the whole forum happens pretty often.

Steve, what's going on? Why is it like that? It was awesome in the beginning, but now it's even worse than it was before.

Yeah, I've been having to put posts on my clipboard before I hit send for fear of losing them (has happened a few too many times already!)

Seems worse around this time (mid to late morning for me, -5 GMT)

It's happening again and I'm scared to double post, ahaha.

PM:ing is almost impossible. This is the message that I get almost each time I try to send a PM:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@bring4th.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

And yet, I know that the PM was sent due to previous experiences with many PMs which I tried to send of the same kind, only to later find out that it was sent, and not only the first one, but *all* of them.

Gary! Steve! Dudes, what's going on?

A note on my experiences: I've been getting errors with greater frequency than prior to the server upgrade in general, although they seem to be related to loading of the page after hitting submit.

I've probably had the 500 error maybe 20 times since the upgrade; a few times it's prior to submission; most of the time it's after submission.

However, each time it was after submission, the original submitted matter/post/PM actually went through, it's just that the page after hitting submit doesn't load and I get the 500 error (so I have a lot of duplicate posts/PMs; luckily duplicate edits don't show up Tongue).

It seems from above I'm not alone Smile. Is this happening for anyone else?

Agreed, the site kinda clogs up at times (noticeably), will just not load/gives an error and/or is slow. Also can it be that even though a mail is in the "sent" tab that it actually did not send? Had to click two times as it error-ed out the first. Thank you for all your efforts on the forum! I hope you get this sorted as well .)

also this happened after pressing "Preview Post" a second time as it was loading a long time:

My PMs (from what I can tell from my sent box and feedback so far) aren't sending when it errors out, I have to resend and make sure it goes through.

Posts though, it appears, most times, make it.
