I've definitely been getting more into Dream Work and getting better recall. It's about time, as I first heard about the power of dreams from Mr Wilcock a very long time ago.
anyway, I've noticed that dreams come in certain types, and as a first step of analysis, determining what type of dream is a good idea.
I have these as a tentative groupings:
1) fantastical dreams. These are the night equivalent of daydreams - it is just the mind wandering and playing out roles. There is no real symbolism or deeper meaning, apart from what the mind is gravitating towards (which COULD be important). So called 'wet dreams' would be in this category.
2) prophetic dreams. I would say are pretty rare. An example would be dreaming of your uncle dying, and it happens the next day, or happened while you were asleep. In this type of dream, you are plugged into real world data, and are almost remote viewing/having a psychic experience.
3) symbolic dreams. When most people say, oh, I had a crazy dream last night, this is the type of dream they are referring to. Here the laws of physics and reality do NOT apply; people have multiple faces, everything is coded, there is a surface story, but you sense a meaning beneath it all. These dreams serve as catalyst or helping you work through catalyst.
4) past life dreams. Here it is past life recall, but in the context of a dream. A past life recall is immediate and without doubt. You recognise it instinctively. It is as real as any memory you have in this lifetime. Much like an orgasm, if you have to ask the queston of whether it is a past life recall or not, most likely it is not. Unmistakable.
any others?
