Bam Bam, my 14-year-and 9 month-old poodle died this morning between 3:30 and 7:10 a.m.
We were together 3 years and a few months. He was a Senior when I adopted him him (11 yrs.).
He had gone totally blind in early October (cataracts) and was the sweetest dog I have ever shared my life with.
He had a difficult death with hours of death-throes.
I have always euthanized my dogs believing that to be a loving friend, "it is best to know when to say, "when." Because, I don't drive any more, I had to wait until 7:00 today to call the vet. I fell asleep at
at around 3:30 a.m. after I read online that dogs look for a dark corner in which to die. He was blind, but must have been able to see light for he seemed more relaxed after the light was off. Unfortunately, with the light off, I fell asleep. I set my alarm to 7a.m. the vet opened. At 7 a.m., he was still
warm,but he was gone.
