I did the Morning Offering and then got myself ready for the day. Today the quote from 102 comes from the Forward and concerns How Don Chose to Live the Choice in His Life:

How Don Chose to Live the Choice in His Life

Don’s lifetime of positive service began to take shape when he was seventeen. He was taking flying lessons from Capt. Tom Mantell, who was 25-years old and a veteran of WWII. Tom and Don became good friends during their time together, and when Tom was killed while chasing a UFO on January 7, 1948, Don became interested in UFOs and began what amounted to a spiritual journey that lasted his whole life. He was moved to question whether there was any end to the universe. Was there a God or a creative force that made everything? What was our place in the universe? Were we alone here?

Don had a profound interest in how things worked. He took all of the science courses available to him in high school. There was, however, the pesky matter of an athletic requirement, and Don opted for the alternative to team sports, which was the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corp) class. This qualified him for the National Guard after graduation.

Unfortunately, amidst the Korean War the National Guard was activated and young Don was deployed to Germany. Though Don advanced to a high rank, a couple stories illustrate his decidedly unwarlike nature.

One day, Don was plotting artillery range targets with his unit’s Major. They were looking at a map on the hood of the major’s Jeep, when a ladybug traversed the map. Offering his pencil to the ladybug for transport, Don released it at the base of a nearby tree. When he returned to the Jeep, his major looked at Don and said, “I hope you don’t feel that way about people.”

Another day, Don and his colleagues were standing at attention to be inspected by the general, but the general was not satisfied with the way in which Don’s platoon had saluted him. As punishment, the general restricted the platoon to the base that weekend and they could not go into town. So, on Saturday night, Don gathered his platoon for some recreation. He led them in creating a comedic skit in which they learned how to salute properly, to the tune of much laughter.

To my memory, Don may have joined the ROTC not only to evade the athletic requirement of his high school but to pay for his higher education.  He went on to earn two master’s degrees: one in engineering and one in mechanical engineering. Though he did not pursue a doctorate, his studies prepared him to teach physics at the University of Louisville for a decade. Beloved by his students for his intelligence, good nature, engaging lessons, and subtle sense of humor, Don developed quite a positive rapport with them. They entertained themselves by testing his unflappability again and again with wild pranks—but they never succeeded in ruffling Don’s feathers.

However, all of his academic experience simply convinced Don that science did not have answers to his deeper questions. So, in the mid 1950s, he began to expand his research into the realms of what was first called the paranormal.

Don’s initial in-depth study in this field was to learn how to do regressive hypnosis. This gave him the opportunity to explore the widely held belief of many Eastern cultures that reincarnation was the process by which all of humanity progressed in the evolution of the spiritual nature of our being. He regressed over 200 people between 1955 and 1960 and found abundant evidence of each person having lived lives previous to the one that they were living then.

Don’s next effort toward service to others was an exploration of “ufology”—the study UFOs—and extraterrestrial communication that Don felt might be of use to the evolution of humanity. In 1961, he became aware of information that was supposedly channeled or delivered by extraterrestrial entities to a meditation group in Detroit headed by Walt Rogers. Mr. Rogers reported having a face-to-face encounter with extraterrestrial entities who maintained a telepathic contact with him afterwards. They transmitted information of a spiritual nature to him and gave simple directions for starting a meditation group to receive such information on a regular basis.

Hal Rogers was a member of this group, and he was transferred from Ford motor Company in Detroit to the Ford Motor Company in Louisville, where Don lived. Hal eventually came into contact with Don and shared this information that had been collected into what was referred to as The Brown Notebook. Eventually Don invited a dozen of his Introduction to Physics students to partake in an experiment to see if this process of receiving extraterrestrial information would work. One of the students got Don’s permission to bring his girlfriend, Carla Rueckert, to the group.

Don didn’t tell these meditators that his goal was extraterrestrial contact. He wanted to make a scientific experiment out of the process and see if contact would happen on its own. For the next couple of months there were a lot of mouths opening and closing and tongues making slurping sounds—as that was allegedly the “conditioning” that was used by ETs in those days–but there were no words being channeled. The scientific validity of the experiment was blown when Walt Rogers visited the group and channeled those of Hatonn, who said that although they had established contact with many of the members of the group, the participants were afraid to speak the words they saw in their minds because they thought that they were making them up.

After this session, the students—except for Carla– began to channel Hatonn regularly. Carla loved the messages but preferred silent meditation for herself. Don decided to gather as much of the channeled information as possible to add to his growing concept of how his basic questions might be answered. This experiment would continue for years, through Carla’s departure, marriage, divorce and eventual return.

One fateful day, Carla returned to Don’s doorstep to participate once again in his meditations, and a romance took hold. Only after Carla’s divorce was final and Don had moved in did Carla learn something curious over dinner.  Don confessed that he’d known since their first encounter that they’d wind up together, to which Carla responded, “Well why didn’t you tell me then?!” Don, never a fan of Carla’s first husband, shared that he was respecting Carla’s freedom, with the belief that her experiences would shape a better future.

Don then used his skills as a pilot of small planes and traveled with Carla to investigate UFO abductions and, in this way, they attempted to live their Choice of service to others together for twelve years before I joined them. By this time Don had begun to “put together the puzzle pieces” that represented his basic questions and the portions of the answers that he and Carla would find through the channeling process and investigating UFO abductions.

Don was tireless in his search for the truth. He was singularly focused on this service and, while he was not demonstrably affectionate or emotive, he conveyed a stable vibration of goodwill, gentle humor, and open-minded curiosity. He adored Carla and he loved people. Where Carla was full of faith, devotion, and passionate love, Don was rational, steady, and good-natured throughout his journey of seeking. Don’s consideration of others shone through any difficulty, even when, toward the end of his life, his mental health declined. Both Don and Carla were brilliant and intrepid seekers who chose to use those powerful qualities to be of service to others.

This morning I answered emails and continued my work on using 102 as my Camelot Journal entries. I had also planned to water my flowers, but we got an unexpected quarter inch of rain.

This afternoon I made an errand run to pick up a litter box scoop to use on Boscoe’s downstairs litter box. Then I stopped in and bought some groceries at Kroger’s and also at Paul’s Fruit Market. I have discovered that Boscoe likes to watch the squirrels and birds eat the bird seed and does so from the corner of the living room behind my Arrowhead Vine that stretches out over four 4 ft. tall bamboo poles that form a pyramid. I think I will put his window bed from upstairs in that position in my process of giving Boscoe a new home on the first floor.

Seek The Wisdom Of Love

Greetings in the love of the most compassionate Christ.

You have many things upon your minds, judgments to make and tasks to perform this day. It is good to will to do these things if you seek the grace to do them well. Yet you must know that your point of view is ever less informed than the greater will of consciousness in Christ.

Plunge, then, into the waters of everlasting life and seek not the hot and fervent faith that shall cool by evening but the peaceful, calm certainty that wishes only to move deeper and deeper, breathing the waters of rich and unending wisdom and love, forsaking the dry and barren breath of human judgment and decision. Let your decision be to turn to the faith that is your everlasting consciousness.

Peace be with you. Amen.

I said the prayer at the Gaia Meditation tonight:

We come in the name of Love and open our hearts, our minds, and our souls to send love, light, and healing energies to Mother Earth as she brings forth a New Earth in fourth density. We ask that the infinite love, light, and healing energies of the One Infinite Creator heal the heart of each soul in pain on Earth tonight. May all souls on Earth feel our love, light, and healing energies in their hearts, in their minds, and in their souls. Amen.
