– “freed from desires” doesn’t mean without desire. It means free from attachment to desires and outcomes. Being happy for no reason certainly melts a lot of desires. But if we had no desires, we would cease acting and die. The closing of the Rik Veda outlines the fully enlightened being “full of desires”. They are simply not attached to them.

Yes, this seems to parallel the OIC in that it is full of infinite desire (potential). How can it get to know itself without the desire to?

yes, I think it's a good qualification that's been highlighted there.

If we examine the mechanism of 'desire', we can see that it produces two outcomes:

desire: something that we want to experience
pleasure: when a desire is able to be fulfilled
pain: when a desire is not able to be fulfilled

if we are less attached to our desires, then when they go unfulfilled (ie pain) it is less sharp, because we are not so identified with the desire, and hence it's lack of fulfillment.

that, however, doesn't mean that the pleasure of a fulfilled desire goes away either.  It is still felt and perceived.

to me, the greatest desire is to come into alignment with the Higher Self, as it represents that perfectly evolved aspect of an individuated self, where it is totally benevolent, and is free from all blockages (absorptions of light).

"The higher self aspect is aware of the lessons learned through the sixth density. The progress rate is fairly well understood. The choices which must be made to achieve the higher self as it is are in the provenance of the mind/body/spirit complex itself.

Thus the higher self is like the map in which the destination is known; the roads are very well known, these roads being designed by intelligent infinity working through intelligent energy."
I agree, the enlightened being sees the desires, just like they see everything.  They witness the phenomena that occurs in the outer projection, and witness the phenomena in the inner projection. They are party to the external manifestation of the inner manifestation. They just see it more clearly than awareness that is still wholly identified with self hood.

The body/mind has desires, and requirements in order to function appropriately within the parameters of the reality it is functioning in.  However, in not identifying with them, they are not attached to them.  And in not being attached to them, they do not suffer when they go unfulfilled.  That is not to imply they make any deliberate attempt to not fulfill them.  They have as little reason to resist them as they do to allow them.  Thus, in enlightenment, the forms are left to their natural functions and everything becomes very natural and organic. Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.

The mind exists in a passive state, and no longer disturbs the body complex with disharmonious distortions of thought, and in its surrender to infinite witnessing, serves as a pure reflector of spirit, or oneness, which in turn filters to the body complex as harmonious conditions in the physical life as well.
