What was that church that I often heard Carla mention, it had to do with teaching trance, like... Unity Church or something like that?
I ask because I have a friend online who is constantly being attacked on a spiritual level and taken away to another place, she seems to have little control in staying in her body, and claims she is tortured and raped and it's really awful. She is very gifted, but also incredibly sensitive, and I wanted to find some way to help her... finding someone who is experienced with trance and psychic defense seems like a good idea.
I've tried helping her in different ways, and the only thing that I've noticed really help her was guiding her to visualize going to a safe place, but it only worked once when she was exhausted.
If anyone has any ideas, besides the church question, I would forward any helpful tips to her.
Hey NegaNova, I am sorry to hear about the trauma being experienced. I don't recall Carla ever talking about a church that taught trance, but she did reference trance in relation to
Spiritualists, and there are definitely some Spiritualist Churches that teach trance. From what I can tell, this type of trance and trance channeling is different from what Carla experienced during the Ra contact. According to her, she kind of just went to sleep during the contact without any effort or teaching to put herself in trance.
There is a book that she always recommended for anyone seeking to learn more about psychic protection, and that's Dion Fortune's Psychic Self-Defense, there is a free version online here:

One thing that came to mind in reading about your friend is a book that I recently read called Abduction: Human Encounters With Aliens by Dr. John Mack. I was drawn to it because of Mack's credentials, being a Pulitzer prize winning biographer and being a tenured professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. A seasoned researcher with deep knowledge of mental health and psychopathology, he was turned onto the abduction phenomenon and when he couldn't find any consistent pathology among these abduction experiencers, he was drawn to dig deeper. I saw many correlations between his work and that of Don Elkins.
While Mack focused primarily on "alien" abduction, he did believe there was a something totally evasive of our typical material paradigm about these abductions. Many abductees remembered the experiences as within their real physical bodies, but many others felt they were being taken out of their bodies. Mack acknowledged that these experiences could likely be happening non-physically, in realms or dimensions we don't understand. Many experiences were traumatic along the lines of what your friend is experiencing, rape and types of torture (but there is really a wide range of experiences).
Mack was successful in helping his patients approach the trauma and process it, healing from it and utilizing the experiences to gain a broader perspective of the universe and live a more positive life. It was inspiring seeing how Mack could help these people simply by acknowledging the realness of their experiences rather than dismissing them or attempting to diagnose them as psychotic for having these experiencing. Most of Mack's patients had ongoing experiences, like your friend, but they tended to change in "tone" as they went through healing.
I would say that perhaps reading this book could help your friend, but I would be cautious, as the descriptions of the experiences are very vivid. At the same time, knowing of other peoples' experiences and gaining the perspective of a healer who has dealt with very similar trauma could be helpful. Maybe a safer route would be to contact
The John Mack Institute, and see if they know of any therapists, specialists, or support groups in your area that deal with this sort of involuntary "abduction" that may be able to help your friend? I'm not sure if they keep these types of resources, but it's worth a shot.
I hope your friend finds some peace and healing from these situations.
