Some may have heard of the French scientist Jean-Pierre Petit because of his contribution to ufology. For those who don't, here is a quote from Wikipedia:

Quote:Jean-Pierre Petit (born 5 April 1937, Choisy-le-Roi) is a French scientist, senior researcher at National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) as an astrophysicist in Marseille Observatory, now retired. His main working fields are fluid mechanics, kinetic theory of gases, plasma physics applied in magnetohydrodynamics power generation and propulsion as well as topology and astrophysics applied in cosmology. He is a pioneer in magnetohydrodynamics and has worked out the principle and techniques of parietal MHD converter.

Jean-Pierre Petit is the founder of the "LAMBDA" laboratory[1] (Laboratory for Applications of MHD in Bitemperature Discharges to Aerodynamics) and he co-founded the "Ufo-Science" non-profit organization[2] dedicated to the study of the unidentified atmospheric phenomena or potential unidentified flying objects. He argues that a thorough scientific study of UFO phenomena (including cameras equipped with diffraction gratings) could potentially advance our scientific knowledge.

Jean-Pierre Petit also demonstrates a sustained interest in a wide variety of subjects not directly related to his work in cosmology, astrophysics and physics. In particular, on the UFO question, on the events of September 11, 2001, the UMMO case, the construction of pyramids, Aurora-type military technologies and French domestic policy issues.

Despite being very talented as a scientist, Petit was gradually marginalized amongst the French scientific community, because of his strong interest in the UFO phenomena. He published numerous books on UFOs, and was particularly involved in the UMMO case.

But the subject of this thread is to focus on Petit's main scientific work since the 70s, the Janus Cosmological Model. Petit argues that current cosmological theories are wrong, and he gives precise arguments against the current paradigm. Instead, taking on the works of Russian physicist Andrei Sakharov and French mathematician Jean-Marie Souriau, Petit elaborated a new complete cosmological model, where he theorizes the existence of a twin universe, composed of matter having a negative mass, as opposed to our own universe composed of matter having a positive mass. This matter of negative mass would be invisible to us, but would explain a lot of holes in current cosmological theories, in particular the supposed existence of dark matter, dark energy and black holes. I won't go into details on the physics and mathematics behind the Janus Cosmological Model, but those interested can find an illustrated paper here and Petit's videos with English subtitles here. It should be noted that most of Petit's papers on this have been published in peer-review scientific journals.

The problem is that modern cosmologists tend to reject immediately any view which contradicts current prevalent theories about the Universe. As Petit says: The general public has a totally false idea of the scientific community. People imagine scientists as scholars attentive to new ideas, ready to debate. Whereas most of them behave like religious people. As an example, Petit recently gave a presentation at an international meeting in front of several cosmologists, where he demonstrated that the whole theory on black holes in entirely wrong, because it is based on a topological error that has lasted for a century. No one understood it, because no one had read the papers by German physicist Karl Schwarzschild, written in 1916, which were the founding base to the later black hole theory.

In my opinion, with my little scientific knowledge but having followed Petit's work for more than 15 years, I think his Janus Cosmological Model is brilliant and might explain a lot, in a physical perspective, about the Universe and its least understood aspect, gravity.
