Hey guys,

I wanted to share the way I use Google's G-Mail and Reader applications to view new Bring4th threads and new responses to Bring4th threads. You'll need to open a Google account to do this, which is of course free to do: https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount

Once you have done this you should have access to:

G-Mail: https://mail.google.com
and
Reader: http://www.google.com/reader/

G-Mail is a very powerful and free web based e-mail application, and I recommend it to anyone for your daily e-mail needs. I've been using it for 5 years now and have no complaints Smile Google Reader is a neat little web app that lets you follow your favorite websites and will notify you when they are updated. This is especially helpful for blogs that you want to follow, or photo galleries of your friends. But it also works with Bring4th's forums! See below:

So this is what my Reader screen looks like. You can see the various websites I follow on the left, and in the main window are all the new threads that people contribute to the forums. To set this up in reader, go to the "add a subscription" button on the top left. Then add the URL: "http://www.bring4th.org/forums/". That link will let you follow all new posts in all sub-categories.

Then here is a part of my g-mail inbox screen. You'll see that I get update notification e-mails directly from Bring4th when someone posts a response to a thread I have subscribed to, which is very cool. At the bottom of every thread at Bring4th you'll notice a little link entitled 'Subscribe to this thread'. Now we need to toggle our Bring4th settings to send us e-mail notifications. You can do this by going to "My Dashboard --> Edit Your Profile --> Edit Options" You should then see something like this:

I recommend you set your settings to match mine. Now you are all set. If you want to get fancy, you can create labels in your g-mail to display a little red L/L icon and even separate it from your normal e-mail, but I'll save this for a later time if anyone becomes interested. The great benefit of using a setup like this is that you rarely miss any action on the forums. I've noticed some times there can be a bug were I won't get an update notification, but on the whole it has allowed me to participate much more fully here than I would have otherwise.

Hope this is useful for ya'll!

+1 from me. I also use these services w satisfaction.

Don't forget to also look into Google Alerts if you want to be notified of new content on the web at large that matches your keywords. Another "must have" seeker's tool! Wink
