I say this because it is a popular thing I have read about in Asia for people pray or meditate around a photo of a religious figure.

I also bring it up as advice to not look at photographs of people who have a negative personality, at least not for a memorable amount of time. People deserve forgiveness but some people should also be ignored, not only forgiven if they have a negative attitude.

A picture of anything can have a positive or negative energy.
But it isn't always black and white. It can have degrees of both.

Photos and statues and things like that are symbols, focusing on symbols can allow one to connect to the energies / entities they represent.

I think it is important to pay attention to what we choose to focus on.
