This is a couple of fun facts that I put together for my own humor. Tongue

The word Heaven in the New Testament comes from Ouranos which is the Greek word for Uranus.

Quote:Strong's Number G3772 matches the Greek οὐρανός (ouranos), which occurs 284 times in 264 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexi...3772&t=KJV

Quote:Alternative forms
ὠρανός (Doric, Boeotian)
ὄρανος (Aeolic)
Etymology
Uncertain. Seems to come from an older *ϝορσανός. If so, could be related to Sanskrit वर्बति (varṣati, “rain”). Could also be from οὑρέω (houreō, “make water, urinate”). Aristotle claimed it derives from ὅρος (oros, “limit”) and ἄνω (anō, “up”).

Pronunciation
(Classical): IPA: [oːranós]
(Koine): IPA: [uːranˈo̞s]
(Byzantine): IPA: [uranˈos]

This here is very interesting if you read the whole quote.
Quote:Passages of clear, specific meaning in the original languages are mistranslated into vague uncertainty. One of these is found in Luke 21:25,26, where Jesus Christ is giving the signs by which we may recognize the end of the Age. As found in your King James Version, it reads thus: ". and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming upon the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

While this sounds vaguely foreboding, just what does it mean? Can you find in it anything which people in any century could recognize? But let us examine the meaning of the Greek words which have been mistranslated in this passage. In the first place, the Greek word "sunoche" (soonokh-ay) which was mistranslated "distress" is derived from "sunecho" (soonekho), meaning to hold together," as in a group or organization. And the Greek word a p o r i a " (aporeea) mistranslated perplexity," is derived from "aporeo" (apor-eho), meaning "to have no way out," or to be in "impassible straits." The Greek word here translated "the earth" is "ikumene" (oy-koomcnay), and refers more particularly to the civilized parts of the earth. Then this passage speaks of "the powers of heaven;" where the same statement is recorded in Mark 13:25, it says "the powers that are in heaven" shall be shaken. Now the Greek word here translated "heaven" is "ouranos" (oo,ran,os), a word of particular interest to us in the last twenty years, for the name of the metal which made possible the atom bomb, uranium, is derived from this same Greek word, ouranos," which was merely ended with the letters, i-um, always used to designate a metal. The history of this metal is interesting. Before it had been discovered on the earth it had been found to exist in the sun, being found by its characteristic lines in the spectrum of sunlight examined with a spectroscope in a great astronomical observatory. Since this metal had been found "in the heavens" before it was found on earth, it was decided to call it by the name which means "the heavenly metal," so they called it "uranium." There seems to be much more than mere, coincidence in the relation between "ouranos" in this Bible passage and "uranium," in view of what uranium has done to bring about exactly the, conditions of which the Bible is here speaking. And finally, the Greek word "salcuo" (sal-yooo), translated "shaken," means also to agitate or stir up. http://www.churchoftrueisrael.com/compar...heads.html

Quote:Uranus and Váruṇa
Uranus is connected with the night sky and Varuna is the god of the sky and the celestial ocean which is connected with the milky way. His daughter Lakshmi is said to have arisen from an ocean of milk, a myth similar to the myth of Aphrodite. Both Laksmi and Aphrodite are assosiated with the planet Venus.

Georges Dumézil made a cautious case for the identity of Uranus and Vedic Váruṇa at the earliest Indo-European cultural level.[18] Dumézil's identification of mythic elements shared by the two figures, relying to a great extent on linguistic interpretation, but not positing a common origin, was taken up by Robert Graves and others. The identification of the name Ouranos with the Hindu Varuna, based in part on a posited PIE root *-ŭer with a sense of "binding"— ancient king god Varuna binds the wicked, ancient king god Uranus binds the Cyclopes— is widely rejected by those who find the most probable etymology is from Proto-Greek *(F)orsanόj (worsanos) from a PIE root *ers "to moisten, to drip" (referring to the rain).

Now you can walk up to your friends and say "Guess what? Uranus is Heaven!" BigSmile

It sounds like a replay of the israelites out of Egypt. Which is another tale of our connection with the devine.

'a connected group on impassible straight'
'waters of life surrounding them'
'their focus on this illusional reality separates them from their CoCreator selves'

it goes on "the powers of heaven shaken. You will look up and seen son of man coming in glory....know that redemption arrives... A parable... Fig tree... (allusion to harvest)

'this is the reuniting of our physical manifestations with our spiritual/higher selves'

'the harvest of course (need I draw parallels?)'

These stories are portrayals of the 'source code' teachings and they are well described by the Kabbalah (shout out to Azrael). In a nutshell, these stories vividly describe our connection to the Creator within us.
Haha!

Nassim Haramein reports that Heaven, the Christian definition, stems from the stars. I can't remember his source, he states it in the rather excellent 8 hour presentation.

Worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

That makes sense with the Greek mythology of Uranus.

Uranium? Probably named cuz it'll make you see stars Wink
I had posted this elsewhere, and this was one of the replies.
Quote:Since the Greek's were first, the word Ouranus is what I prefer to say (The Romans later had their term Uranus). Pronouncing Or-anus avoids uncomfortable problems in English

In the interesting Greek mythological system, Ouranus (the 'Heavens'... or the first Sky Daddy was born from Gaia , the initial Earth Mother formed out of Chaos .... then Gaia and her offspring Ouranus were wife and husband). It's interesting how in that system, the Earth Mother was the initial creative basis forming out of Chais to form the rest ... this contrasts with the later focus on Male Sky Daddies ... including the Abrahemic religions tendancy to use patriarchal terms.

In this alchemists diagram of the body, the 5 naked eye planets (those 5 bright ones seen by the ancients) and Sun and Moon label the 7 chakras in the body in the same order that was seen in the Earth-centred model of the Cosmos. (this particular drawing has a spiral order through the chakras representing one of the albedo stages of alchemy . Interesting that the final stage of alchemy - not shown here- has an order through the chakras that exactly matches how our days of the week are labelled.

Sunday (Sun), Monday (Moon), Tuesday (Norse Tyr = Mars), Wednesday (Norse Odin or Woden's day, Mercredi in French = Mercury), Thursday (Thursday = Jupiter), Friday (Frigg's day = Venus), Saturday (Saturn=crown chakra)

And so between the Earth Mother (Gaia) and the Sky Father God are these seven levels in the body.

The union of the Earth Mother and the Sky Father through you is the goal of spiritual practices.

------------

Interesting how the word for urinate and urethra stem from that same Sky Father God ... rain was seen as the insemination by him of the Earth Mother Goddess (and his mother, but we won't discuss that here hahaha).

------------
------------
------------

As far as the identity "God" of the Roman Catholic Church (and thus all Christianity that stemmed from it), you can look to the Latinesque (French, Italian,Spanish, Latin etc) languages names for "God" ... Dieu, Dio, Dios, Die, etc

The Vedic 'Sky Father' god was "Dyaus Pita" (whose Earth Mother counterpart was Prithvi Mata). This lead to the words for the Greek Zeus (Dyaus) and later to the Roman Jupiter (Ju + Piter , Dyaus Pita) and then to the Roman Catholic Church

------------

In the levels of the chakras, this would be the brow Chakra where the planet Jupiter is labelled. ABove him is his father Saturn at the Crown and above Saturn would be outside the body of the "Heavens" labelled as Ouranus.

"Cosmic consciousness" is the same as "Union with the Brahman" as the goal of the Yogis.

I see this symbolically as the mating of the Earth Mother Goddess and the Sky Father God and the end of duality .... non duality and the merging of all duality into oneness.

Also, the lower seven of the Tree of Life.

Reuniting the earth of us and the god within us.
We are so much the sum of our myths, aren't we? Of course, now there is that problem of convincing so many conservative adherents to the literal word of their Holy Books as they are written now.

Never mind how they were written and re-written over the ages.

Humans are so odd.

'I see this symbolically as the mating of the Earth Mother Goddess and the Sky Father God and the end of duality'

If the end of duality occurs where on earth will we come to holiday?

Scuse me, I'm new. Smile
