A UFO was spotted flying over fireworks at end of the Olympics opening ceremony in London. It has not been identified as a blimp or other official flying vehicle.

It has indeed been identified as the Goodyear blimp.
The comparisons match up well.

I flatly deny this.
It was... uh.. a British night-falcon that got some fireworks stuck to it, and was flying around to try and put them out.

Eh-hrmm... Nothing to see here, move along Wink

Looks blimpy to me, just more indistinct than the other pictures of the Goodyear blimp.

btw the clincher is that the London bookies have not paid off on the 1000-1 odds bet that a UFO would appear at the opening ceremonies.
Looks blimpy to me too. Remember that it never had an actual light on it. What we're seeing is the reflected ground light and fireworks on the skin of the balloon itself.

they make a good point on the site that zen linked to that there was a no-fly zone over the opening ceremonies, and that they would never allow a blimp to fly that close to a fireworks display...

On our Canadian feed here, I definitely saw an orb during the giant fireworks display, but wrote it off as just a 'funny light most likely', but i noticed later that all the helicopters around had no lights on... Looked back on it and it was definitely there. A perfect white orb flys right over the stadium, and is only shown for about 4-5 seconds total. I gotta try to track it down...
I don't think it (the blimp?) was right over the stadium or near the fireworks. It was probably standing off a hundred yards or so away.

As much as I'd like to get all excited about it, it definitely looks like a blimp.
I think it had to be farther away than that, Etude. The blimps are pretty big. To be that size?...at least a half mile (0.8 km) from the camera, I'd think. Maybe more. Which could possibly put it around half that distance from the fireworks?
The sighting is starting to hit the MSM as well... MSN just put up a story as did the Huffington Post.

Like everything, we'll just have to wait and see how things develop.
It was a thoughtform.

Since so many believed it would appear, it did. Ha!

I going to assume it's just a blimp because that's what it looks like to me, but I also love this idea, so I will hold out some hope. BigSmile
The "No Fly Zone" is only for aircraft weighing 7,000 kg (15,400 lbs) or more.

Here is a link to the map http://olympics.airspacesafety.com/media...t_note.jpg

The Goodyear Blimp weighs 12,840 lbs.

Here is a link to the stat http://www.goodyearblimp.com/faqs/faqs_construction.html#weigh

Goodyear has also claimed that the blimp was indeed flying over the opening ceremony.

Not to rain on the parade- I wish the ETs would show themselves just as much as anybody- but now more than ever it is important to do our due diligence.

Well that settles it then!

Haha, if only it were so simple as just believing whatever they tell us!

Surely there is other footage out there, of a closeup of the UFO/blimp?

Is this real or is it photoshopped? If real, I don't think blimps move like that. (It's sped up apparently.)

I doubt that! BigSmile

If only... but aside from the possibility of Goodyear lying, those other two links look fairly reliable as to establishing that the blimp flying over the stadium wouldn't have been in violation of the no fly zone.

One would think with all those people in the stadium watching the fireworks, there must be tons of footage out there.

Beats me! Apparently some people have nothing better to do with their time than become expert photoshop scam artists.

Here is a good side by side comparison from UFO Casebook.

http://www.ufocasebook.com/2012/ufoblimpcomparison.html

The sites makes no conclusions. For myself...the blimp was filmed with an obviously high quality camera. The other, probably with a cell phone....

I think its the blimp.

Hi folks, I've merged the side conversation about forum dynamics into the Cognitive Distortions and Forum Relationships thread which is stickied in Life. Feel free to continue the conversation over there.

PS.
It's a blimp Tongue
Government controlled saucers used for publicity and increasing ratings :p
I saw that Goodyear was a sponsor of the Olympics, so it probably was their blimp.
The Goodyear Blimp is at the games, but the initial reports were that the blimp was not in the air for the opening ceremonies because of the no-fly zone as well as the danger of exploding fireworks near a giant flying gas balloon.

Then 3 mainstream media reports surfaced about a UFO and Goodyear puts out a half-baked statement 4 days later about the blimp being in the sky, but without their logo due to copyright restrictions with the IOC (you can clearly see no writing if it is a blimp)

I guess the reason I am somewhat banging this drum is that on our Canadian feed of the opening ceremonies, I definitely saw something at the zenith. It wasn't a disc but it was an orb, and even my wife was pretty curious as to what it was. It flew right over the stadium over about a 5 second shot and then it went away. I just believe that something was there... I may be wrong tho.
Can anyone provide any other more compelling footage of this from a different camera? hogey stated he saw something from the footage of a canadian new feed, it might have been put up online somewhere.
I was trying to figure out how I could get it on my cpu, but then i realized i have a camera in my phone. If its still on my PVR, i'll show what I saw later tonite... hopefully it hasn't been taped over yet

That is interesting and a bit odd that Goodyear would deny that they were flying and then change their minds.

This is it. Keep your attention to the top center portion of the screen, it's only seen between two camera cuts and then it's gone...
