I will share some findings about the energy centers in different systems. It seems that every religion has the esoteric knowledge. Most people simply associate energy centers with Hindu and new age traditions.

Law of One

Quote:15.12 ↥ Questioner: How does an individual go about balancing himself? What is the first step?

Ra: I am Ra. The steps are only one; that is, an understanding of the energy centers which make up the mind/body/spirit complex. This understanding may be briefly summarized as follows. The first balancing is of the Malkuth, or Earth, vibratory energy complex, called the red-ray complex. An understanding and acceptance of this energy is fundamental. The next energy complex, which may be blocked is the emotional, or personal complex, also known as the orange-ray complex. This blockage will often demonstrate itself as personal eccentricities or distortions with regard to self-conscious understanding or acceptance of self.

The third blockage resembles most closely that which you have called ego. It is the yellow-ray or solar plexus center. Blockages in this center will often manifest as distortions towards power manipulation and other social behaviors concerning those close and those associated with the mind/body/spirit complex. Those with blockages in these first three energy centers, or nexi, will have continuing difficulties in ability to further their seeking of the Law of One.

The center of heart, or green ray, is the center from which third-density beings may springboard, shall we say, towards infinite intelligence. Blockages in this area may manifest as difficulties in expressing what you may call universal love or compassion.

The blue-ray center of energy streaming is the center which, for the first time, is outgoing as well as inpouring. Those blocked in this area may have difficulty in grasping the spirit/mind complexes of its own entity and further difficulty in expressing such understandings of self. Entities blocked in this area may have difficulties in accepting communication from other mind/body/spirit complexes.

The next center is the pineal or indigo-ray center. Those blocked in this center may experience a lessening of the influx of intelligent energy due to manifestations which appear as unworthiness. This is that of which you spoke. As you can see, this is but one of many distortions due to the several points of energy influx into the mind/body/spirit complex. The indigo-ray balancing is quite central to the type of work which revolves about the spirit complex, which has its influx then into the transformation or transmutation of third density to fourth density, it being the energy center receiving the least distorted outpourings of love/light from intelligent energy and having also the potential for the key to the gateway of intelligent infinity.

The remaining center of energy influx is simply the total expression of the entity’s vibratory complex of mind, body, and spirit. It is as it will be, “balanced” or “imbalanced” has no meaning at this energy level, for it gives and takes in its own balance. Whatever the distortion may be, it cannot be manipulated as can the others and, therefore, has no particular importance in viewing the balancing of an entity.

Hindu and kundalini

Quote:In Hindu and tantric/yogic traditions and other belief systems chakras are energy points or knots in the subtle body. They are located at the physical counterparts of the major plexuses of arteries, veins and nerves. Chakras are part of the subtle body, not the physical body, and as such are the meeting points of the subtle (non-physical) energy channels, called nadiis. Nadiis are channels in the subtle body through which the life force (prana), or vital energy moves. Various scriptural texts and teachings present a different number of chakras. There are many chakras in the subtle human body according to the tantric texts, but there are 7 chakras that are considered to be the most important ones.

Buddhism and tummo

Quote:Tummo (Tibetan: gtum-mo; Sanskrit: caṇḍālī) is a form of breathing, found in the Six Yogas of Naropa,[1] Lamdre, Kalachakra and Anuyoga teachings of Tibetan Vajrayana.

The channels do not exist in the way they are visualized during Vajrayana practice. For example, during a deity visualization, the physical human body is visualized as completely hollow, made of light and has no internal organs. Furthermore different systems have different visualizations. In actuality, the "center channel" (dbu ma or avadhuti) is the whole arterial system, or more specifically the aorta.[4] The two "side channels" are the venous system (roma or rasanā) and the spinal column and nervous system (rkyang ma or lalanā).[5] A chakra is any place in the body where there are clusters of arteries, veins and nerves.

Sufi and Lataif

Quote:al-Laṭaʾif as-sitta ("the six subtleties" singular: latifa) are psychospiritual "organs" or, sometimes, faculties of sensory and suprasensory perception in Sufi psychology, and are explained here according to the usage amongst certain Sufi groups (key terms in this article are taken from the Urdu, rather than the original Arabic). These six subtleties are thought to be parts of the self in a similar manner to the way glands and organs are part of the body. Drawing from the Qur'an, many Sufis distinguish Nafs, Qalb, Sirr, Ruh, Khafi, and Akhfa as the six laṭaʾif.

Tao and the practice of microcosmic orbit

Quote:Dantian, dan t'ian, dan tien or tan t'ien is loosely translated as "elixir field", "sea of qi", or simply "energy center". Dantians are important focal points for meditative and exercise techniques such as qigong, martial arts such as t'ai chi ch'uan, and in traditional Chinese medicine.[1][2]

Judaism and the kabbalah.

Quote:Kabbalah (Hebrew: קַבָּלָה‎, literally "receiving/tradition" (also transliterated Cabala, Qabbālâ etc.; different transliterations now tend to denote alternative traditions[1])) is an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought that originated in Judaism. A traditional Kabbalist in Judaism is called a Mekubal (Hebrew: מְקוּבָל‎).

Kabbalah's definition varies according to the tradition and aims of those following it,[2] from its religious origin as an integral part of Judaism, to its later Christian, New Age, and Occultist syncretic adaptations. Kabbalah is a set of esoteric teachings meant to explain the relationship between an unchanging, eternal, and mysterious Ein Sof (no end) and the mortal and finite universe (God's creation). While it is heavily used by some denominations, it is not a religious denomination in itself. It forms the foundations of mystical religious interpretation. Kabbalah seeks to define the nature of the universe and the human being, the nature and purpose of existence, and various other ontological questions. It also presents methods to aid understanding of these concepts and thereby attain spiritual realisation.

Christianity (Although the most subtle and hidden of all major Religions)

Quote:The Seven Churches of Revelation, also known as The Seven Churches of the Apocalypse and The Seven Churches of Asia (referring to the Roman province of Asia, not the entire continent), are seven major churches of Early Christianity, as mentioned in the New Testament Book of Revelation. In Revelation, on the Greek island of Patmos, Jesus Christ instructs his servant John of Patmos to: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."[1]

Quote:The Seven Seals is a phrase in the Book of Revelation that refers to seven symbolic seals that secure the book or scroll, that John of Patmos saw in his Revelation of Jesus Christ. The opening of the seals of the Apocalyptic document occurs in Revelation Chapters 5-8. In John's vision, the only one worthy to open the book is referred to as both the "Lion of Judah" and the "Lamb having seven horns and seven eyes"

It would seem that Asia has a much more open system of teachings regarding the chakras. The technique seems to be fairly similar in all traditions it can be summed up as the visualization of energy centers and path ways to move cosmic energy up and down the spine.

This energy has been called Prana in Hinduism, Chi in Tao and Lung in Tibetan Buddhism.
yeah, something so fundamental is going to be rediscovered in many ways.

other systems have more than 7 primary energy centres?

Dantien are storage (3 banks) rather than transformer/distribution centers like chakras.

Prana runs through Nadis, Chi runs through Meridians. Nadis are not Meridians.

There is a ton of confusion out there, and very few sources that go into fine detail.

Look at it as 7 "common", which are the basic "needs". There are subchakras that are fairly important to the evolving/awakening individual that can begin to activate. Some systems simply include those chakras above the mains, which do not directly deal with the physical.
I would say the basic system is the same through out all of them. There might be some differences sure but over all its very very similar. if you look at kundalini practice and the practice of the Tao Micro cosmic orbit its the same idea going.

Unbound

These techniques are relevant to one core concept - energy circulation. Through circulations of energy, the system is stabilized through equal energy distribution resulting in "crystallization" and balancing. The reason the techniques all have similarities is because each culture has created a system which can "cover the whole system". Since the spine is the basis of all fundamental movement of energy in the body, it makes sense that it would become the World Tree around which everything revolves (circulates).
I have found the tangible "chakras" just to be nervous system responses. The actual "energy" flow has been seen to be a complex web, by myself, that I can only compare to a Sun with varying densities of heat. The red-ray enters through the outer-edges, primarily through the legs, and depending on how accepting you are, this energy transmutes through all the colors into pure white light at the core center of the spirit.

Once one has accepted living completely, red disappears from the aura.

Once one has accepted oneself completely, orange disappears from the aura.

Once one has accepted what goes against oneself, yellow disappears from the aura.

Once one has accepted what goes against oneself as the self, green disappears from the aura. (Difficult)

Once one has accepted what everything wants completely, blue disappears from the aura. (Even more difficult)

Once one has accepted as everything inherently complete, indigo disappears from the aura. (Not until the last days of your soul)

Once one has become everything, violet disappears from the aura until there is no more aura and there is only light.
