What is the point of archetypes? - Glow - 04-22-2017

I sometimes will ask what archetype a person in a movie is so I'm not saying there is no point. I'm just curious how everyone sees this..

For me most people are pretty easy to understand and even when they do deeds that hurt others I understand their motivations so know deep in there we are all one.

When I see a character repeatedly in movies and I like something about what they portray but havent experienced in this life that expression of being very often i look to archetypes to further experience more of that energy, understand as much of that facet as I can I guess.

I haven't really pursued much study because I usually understand people enough to embrace them as part of me and feel no urge to go deeper because it's like an open book already.

I've seen others talk about using the archetypes or calling upon an archetype after learning about it and I wonder what this desire is about. Is it for personal gain, or to function in the world?

At this point I really just want to experience the different aspects that already make up this incarnation, and the aspects of those around me. This mixture is a one of experience in time/space so I'm just curious about muddying the waters by utilizing archetypes you didn't develop naturally. We are all different so it makes sense some would want to do this but doesn't it take away from experiencing the being you are developing into naturally?

Your astrology and experience made this cool one time expression, isn't adding unnatural grown aspects kind of covering up this one?

I'm sure I am missing something here Smile but I want to understand. Smile

Please understand this isn't a my way vs your way thing I know we are created for different reasons but in this one I am so far on the other side that I'm having trouble seeing it as self.... if I understand the motivation I can let the puzzle piece slide into place and see it "as self" Smile

I don't know much of the archetypes, but their 'point' is not easily figured depending on how abstract you are about them.

I see them as the basic building blocks, idealistically, that makes the many experiences we know now in their many ways palatable and manifest/potentiated.

Such as the Willpower of the Magician empowering one who has made a choice.  Or the Empress that is the unconscious ocean of the veiled reality we exist within.

Or the Great Transformation of Spirit or the Dark Night of the Soul.

Its a very heavily layered thick and dense myriad of ideas that produce a blueprint for our veiled 3D interactions AND experiences AND more.

Quite honestly, its completely above and beyond me Smile

I'm going to try to explain a very general use of archetypes. Note, I know relatively nothing about astrology, but I'm going to use astrology as a possible example of understanding archetypes.

Visualize a dot surrounded by a circle. Now divide that circle into twelve sections. The dot in the center will represent the sun, our sub-Logos. Each of the twelve sections represent dominant patterns of the psyche. Each astrological sign represents a pattern of behavior or perhaps more adequately, the personality of the soul. All souls have positive and negative characteristics, a light and a dark side, but most people generally emphasize the negative qualities of others. The point of this little illustration is to see that everyone you may view negatively has positive characteristics and furthermore, all individual souls highlight different aspects of the Creator. All entities are a microcosm of the Creator.

Each astrological sign represents an archetypal pattern, and furthermore, all archetypal patterns attempt to replicate the original archetype, which would be the Sun/Logos/Creator.

The archetype that is most often used in movies and stories is that of the Hero and the Hero's Journey... It generally entails a protagonist going on an adventure, overcoming difficult obstacles and then "coming home" transformed.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey

I'm not sure you will find any of this helpful, but it is a way for me to transform perceived "negative qualities" of others into positive ones, and to recognize all entities as another aspect of my Self, perhaps highlighting different aspects/qualities.

Not to confuse you, but the way I am referring to archetypes is a bit different than the archetypal mind discussed in detail by Ra. I'm speaking of archetypes, not necessarily the archetypal mind.
