The artist Sun Ra - sillypumpkins - 04-04-2020

Some may be familiar with the man, Sun Ra. Quite the individual..... he is what the kids would call "woke," except, he's like... reeaaaallly far out for the general public. I think you guys would get a kick out of listening to him speak.

He made jazz music in the mid-late 1900s. Astral jazz. Space jazz. Cosmic.

Sun Ra was born Herman Poole Blount in 1914. In 1936, or 1937, he had a visionary experience in which he went to the planet Saturn and spoke to some entities:

Quote:My whole body changed into something else. I could see through myself. And I went up... I wasn't in human form... I landed on a planet that I identified as Saturn... they teleported me and I was down on [a] stage with them. They wanted to talk with me. They had one little antenna on each ear. A little antenna over each eye. They talked to me. They told me to stop [attending college] because there was going to be great trouble in schools... the world was going into complete chaos... I would speak [through music], and the world would listen. That's what they told me."

After this experience, it was done. Sun Ra was born.

This experience clearly had a profound effect on the man. If you just listen, you'll understand (the interview parts are at :58, 2:20, 3:46, 7:05):

There's a couple good documentaries about him that really demonstrate who he was. I really like Sun Ra: A Joyful Noise. You could also check out his music, one of my favorite songs of his is called Imagination.

I could kind of sense a connection to Ra (obviously given the name,) but also because of his alleged visit to Saturn. Did he describe what the Council of Saturn looks like? Lol. I suppose we might never know.... just though i'd share something interesting today...

love to all, be well!

I think there are also two musical groups named Ra. Not sure if one of them is him.

Sun Ra is the man. His group is called the Arkestra.

also, found this gold nugget of quote from Sun Ra: "I'm not a part of history, I'm more a part of mystery, which is my story."
