All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-12-2021

Do you have a favourite song, Masterpiece of the Sixties, Seventies or Eighties? Something that still sends shivers down your spine, as when you heard it the first time, and it brings back happy memories? Add it here and show us your memories. As for myself, it is "Your Face" by Roberta Flack, (and many others).

What fun! I will probably add a lot. Tongue

I don't really know classics, though, so I will just post songs I like. Here is a song from 1969 (performed in 1970). The lyrics are poignant and their voices are beautiful..

GENESIS.

TURN IT ON AGAIN. (1980)

Probably the best track Genesis ever performed. Not that I am biased, I have  been a Genesis fan since they started.

Nikki, you need to post a video, you go to Preview Post, BUT you need to write a word first... lol
so once you write something like;

"here this"

you click on Preview Post which is below you typing window, then you will get a tool bar above that preview text, go to the icon which represents a little film, click on I, t it will open to an option called dailymotion, click on it and you will see youtube, if you are using youtube, and then you can copy your link of youtube, then click again Preview Post and you should see the image of your youtube.... Hope this helps... Wink

Hi Flofrog?

In YouTube I searched "In Too Deep" by Genesis. Or even quicker, just do a search for Genesis.

It has got to be one of the most popular groups, (ever). Am I not their biggest fan?

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-15-2021

GENESIS

Duchess (Remastered).

One of their greatest classics, (EVER).

From "Duke"

Then the original from Duke. Just so good.

Pure genius.

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-15-2021

GENESIS

Invisible Touch, (need I say more). One of their greatest.

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-15-2021

GENESIS.

Foxtrot. (1972)

Suppers Ready.

I wore out three albums playing this over and over, (over and over). I love it so, so much.

What an answer! It took the host by surprise. A little zen teaching moment there on live TV, just awesome. Thanks for posting.

One of the greatest musical masterpieces of all time. (1969).

KING CRIMSON

In the Court of the Crimson King.

Bravo!

Long live the King, (Crimson).

@ Ming: That's a coincidence. I almost posted that song last night. Smile

Hi Diana.

That is weird? Although I don't believe in coincidence. The God(s) of Fate were taunting us?

Isn't that the greatest album, (EVER)?

My favourite is the "B" side. Way ahead of its time.

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-20-2021

BOB DYLAN

It takes a lot to laugh, It takes a train to cry.

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-20-2021

BOB DYLAN

Desolation Row.

His greatest song, (EVER), and that was his best achievement.

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-21-2021

BOB DYLAN

Just Like the Tom Thumb's Blues.

Definitely one of his best?

I haven't heard it in SOOOO long, but I agree it was ahead of its time. I remember he song, 21st-Century Schizoid Man, and some instrumental stuff pretty far out there. Kind of reminds me of the band, Traffic, in that there are elements of jazz and both so unique. Also I love Greg Lake's (I think that's his name, from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer) voice. Smile

RE: All-Time Favourite Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s: The Classics. - Ming the Merciful - 08-21-2021

Hi Diana,

Thanks for reminding me? Traffic? I had forgotten about them. Plus Emmerson, Lake & Palmer? They were amazing. Then there were a couple of Canadian groups, (I cannot remember their names), There was also a song by Traffic, and it was almost Medieval. Any ideas? I don't remember the name of the song? It was so good back then. Could the "Hippie" movement been a precursor to the "Awakening", except Humanity was not ready, and the conditions were not right? Something had to be worked-out first? Eternity and Spirituality are not in a rush. Everything just bides it time.
