Hi, I'm new here - Spectrum - 01-29-2011 Hi Everyone I have discovered the Ra material recently, and I am just...speechless, to say the least. I have no idea whether I might be a wanderer or not, but for now I'm just trying to take in all the information about the higher self in the Ra teachings. Geesh!! I thought I was on my own, at least down here till I die and get some answers!...actually, somewhere deep inside I knew it wasn't true ;-) We were brought up to believe that reincarnation was something crazy people in the East believed. For us it was Heaven and Hell..."better be a good girl now, otherwise you burn!" When I was eighteen (I'm 34 now), I decided I'm done with Christianity. Since then it has been quite the roller coaster ride, and when the internet arrived, I stepped into quite a few traps. It's a jungle out there! I have been a seeker for as long as I can remember, and I have come to the uncomfortable realization that I might be a little gullible sometimes. I felt a little better when I read this in the Ra teachings: Carla: "This last point is an important one when talking about psychic research of any kind. Don has always said that one of my assets as a research associate is my great gullibility. Almost anyone can play a joke on me because I do not catch on quickly. I have a way of taking things as they come and accepting them at face value and only afterwards analyzing what has occurred. This gullibility is a vital factor in obtaining good results in paranormal research. A desire for proof will inevitably lead to null results and voided experiments. An open mind, one willing to be gullible, leads its possessor to a kind of subjective and personal certainty which does not equal proof as it cannot be systematically reproduced in others. However, this subjective knowing is a central part of the spiritual evolution to which Ra speaks so compellingly in this volume and which we have researched for many years now." I trust people too easily, but I think I'd rather be the 'eternally hopeful' that I am, than a cynic. As I read the Ra teachings, I realized "Oh my goodness! This is the truth!" Anyway, glad to be here. One last thing, since I have never really done any meditation (cause I don't know how), can anyone point me in a good direction? As in instruction, or 'how to'. I saw this book on Amazon: Wherever You Go, There You Are http://www.amazon.com/Wherever-You-There-Are-ROUGH/dp/1401307787/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296346009&sr=8-1 Looks good to me, unless someone knows of a better instructional book. Thanks RE: Hi, I'm new here - turtledude23 - 01-29-2011 I can relate to alot of the things you said. Welcome to the forum
RE: Hi, I'm new here - NegaNova - 01-29-2011 Hey, it's so good to have you here with us, Spectrum! For meditation, I found this thread pretty helpful the other day: http://www.bring4th.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=2147 But ofcourse, it may take a little bit of time to find the right meditation for you. There's tonnes of kinds, like visualization, becoming silent, simply feeling your body. Hopefully you find this forum useful, everyone here is super nice, and always willing to help if you have questions or concerns. ANYWAYS, Glad you're here! Welcomeee haha. Never seen that before. Thank you. RE: Hi, I'm new here - Spectrum - 01-30-2011 Thank you very much for the warm welcome you all. ![]() I'm going to check out that thread you provided now, NegaNova. Thanks! Ankh, I found that quote in the introduction of the e-book version, here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/23421361/Ra-the-Law-of-One-Series RE: Hi, I'm new here - Brittany - 01-30-2011 Hello and welcome! I, too, was brought up in Christianity, and I broke away about the same time you did, when I was in college. It just stopped making sense to me anymore. I also did the great internet search for answers, though in the end it was the internet that led me to the Law of One, so I guess it works sometimes, though there's some crazy stuff out there, too. I usually use tribal music to meditate. It's about the only thing that works for me. Okay then, let's try and find a healthy balance between healthy scepticism/cynicism and faith/mysticism/intent. :-/ Thanks everyone! Well said. RE: Hi, I'm new here - kycahi - 02-01-2011 I'll tell you what is probably the simplest instruction on how to meditate, and it was given by my college Freshman Physics professor--not that this source is either good or bad. We were approaching the end of the Quarter and many students were trying to tease out of him what might be on the Final Exam, so they would be sure to study that. He told us that in a class coming up soon, he would give us the very best advice on preparing for a final. He did this several days later. He announced that we reached the end of that day's lesson, so we were free to leave at any time. I don't think anybody left. Then he said he would do what he promised, tell how to prepare for exams. He waited as lots of guys got out fresh paper to take notes, and said, "Find a place in your home or out in nature, someplace peaceful. Next, sit with your back straight, pick a tree or flower or rock and stare at it, while thinking of nothing. That's it." For some reason, this room of engineering students had a lot of puzzled looks on our faces and one or two raised hands. He said, I know this is not what you expected, but I've been on several continents and talked with some some very smart people. They all said, "Stare at a tree." He answered a few questions without saying much more and then the bell rang, ending the class. A large buzz filled the room as the professor got out quickly. A few guys later said they tried it and thinking of nothing was not easy. Some guys had talked with older students about this, and they said, "Oh yeah, that Elkins is kind of weird, but he's usually right so don't dismiss it." Frankly, I tried it a little and felt like I failed. Most of the other guys either disregarded the advice or didn't do well with it either. A few years later, after Prof. Elkins had left the school to be a full-time pilot, I was confronted by a Thermodynamics class which I had virtually dropped out of--I attended the classes and took notes, but didn't study or do the homework. I pondered skipping the final, but decided that this is where to apply the meditation theory in earnest. I was able to get into the meditation pretty well and so went to the final, but didn't feel like I knew any more Thermodynamics than I had before. The exam was open book and open notes. As I read each exam problem, I kind of remembered something about that in my notes and copied a few equations down on my paper and plugged in some of the problem's numbers. I looked through the textbook and sometimes I grabbed an equation out of there. Long story short, I passed Thermodynamics, barely. Surprised the heck out of me! The next Quarter I had a similar class, which I also pretty much ignored, called Fluid Mechanics. I had been meditating fairly regularly by then, so I went into the fluids mid-term exam not knowing what to expect. Well, maybe because of all the meditation, my notes were better. The exam was three problems, and only I and one other guy got two right. The rest either got one or none. Geez, was I convinced by then!So that was the basics, the rest is just technique. Give yourself about 20 minutes; when you notice yourself thinking, just let it stop. After the time is up, don't think about how you failed or succeeded, just repeat in a day or two. I promise that you succeed every time, whether you recognize it or not. I am still grateful to that college professor, for this lesson and many many more. Lee RE: Hi, I'm new here - BlatzAdict - 02-02-2011 Hi and welcome to the forums spectrum. whats a good meditation technique. besides transcendental which is what Kycahi was referring to, I was taught the white light meditation/grounding. It also works as protection. It's a very versatile technique. You envision a beam of white light coming from the galactic center or from a really holy place in your imagination. Make it as real as you can, it should be white and intense but not too opaque, semi transparent semi opaque. Picture it surrounding your entire body, perhaps even surrounding your entire room. Once u have that bring the bottom of the white beam down and imagine connecting it to the core of the earth. Essentially you have a pillar or a beam of light. It's a very basic grounding technique, which can be used to contact ur spirit guides and higher self, as well as protecting u from any of those pesky Orion friends. When you become proficient at this, perhaps I should put down a technique I created involving connecting the top of the pillar to the core of the sun, while the bottom of the pillar connects to the core of the earth. You can feel earth's chakra coming up from the bottom red ray chakra, as well as the sun's chakra coming in through your crown. Bring the two energies together and mix it with your own for 3 energies total in your heart chakra. Now you have some loving energy that u can use for anything u want. I use it on the planet to help the the general vibration. Whenever I use it, people tend to feel better generally and don't really know why hahaha. It's like guerrilla love warfare may u be blessed with love and light or just amitoufu Felix RE: Hi, I'm new here - Spectrum - 02-02-2011 Thank you for the advice, kycahi and BlatzAdict.

RE: Hi, I'm new here - MDA - 02-16-2011 Hi, I am also new here - I just joined andhave also been reading the Ra material. When I read your post, I was wondering if I had written that myself and had forgotten. I'm joking of course, but your story is so similar to my own. I grew up with all the very fundamental christian beliefs which never brought me anything but doubt and confusion. I've always had an insatiable need to search for who I am and why I am here and I have never fit in with any group or, seemingly, with societal perameters of what a successful person should be. I've always had a very strong desire/need to communicate with the Creator but never seemed to be able to get anywhere so I was always left out in the cold in all religious searches. I've been considered to be very gullible also and my family thinks I will just follow any spiritual belief that comes my way - though this is not entirely true, I started thinking there was something wrong with me for a while. I also am at odds because those who know me know that ever since I was a kid I have firmly believed that I should be able to use telekinesis- though I still have not been able to make it work. I am thankful for the Ra material and for allwho have commented on this site - I will also make use of the meditation information to better my ability at meditation. Thank you all and I hope to be able to read more of your posts later. RE: Hi, I'm new here - Spectrum - 02-16-2011 Hi MDA, and welcome to you too! ![]() With regard to your story, John Keel once said, and I'm paraphrasing, cause I can't find the exact quote now, but he said something to the effect of "Mystery is the cause or the start of man's quest into the meaning of life and understanding it". Your post made me think of that quote, because we are so often surrounded by people who seemingly don't share our strong fascination with the mysterious. RE: Hi, I'm new here - MDA - 02-17-2011 Spectrum, Hi again :-) It amazes me how so many people will look at me with total blankness when faced with topics of spirituality. When faced with someone who has a deep desire to find ALL the answers to life, they are lost because they seemingly do not care for more than their daily struggle - and to focus on their work or their hobbies so intently that there is no more left of themselves in energy to seek answers to those mysteries. I irrritate even my own family by talking about all I learn and being what they sometimes call, obsessed. I wouldn't have it any other way! ;-) |
