The process is merging the ego with the veiled master.
Which is the process of alchemy; transformation of spirit into golden light.

What if the veiled master want to maintain the ego?

Then the ego will go along the process of maintaining ego. Or you could say channeling ego. The path of alchemy is an entirely different path imo..
