Minyatur, are you/have you ever been in a harmonious long-term romantic relationship? The concept of courtship is thoroughly dependent on this kind of experience which, while very common, is not perfectly ubiquitous. If not, then the concept would obviously be alien to you. Even so, there are surely other experiences you have had that are analogous to romantic courtship.
The central idea is that you and the other-self freely choose each other in a gradual, unforced relationship. Some have this experience with pets, others with friend or working partners, others with a job or career path, and still others have such an experience with an "inanimate" object (one of my favorite examples of such an object is a musical instrument). I remain confident that your objection (and Night Owl's) to Jade's description of the Transformation of the Mind (and the High Priestess) is largely a disagreement about what it means to court a maiden.
