It is VERY COMMON to find baby birds on the ground, and of course our first instinct is to help something so tender and fragile. The fact is, baby birds actually "fledge" and leave the nest before they can fly - because when they are still in the nest, they don't have enough room to grow the rest of their flight feathers. So they leave the nest and spend a few days hanging around mostly on the ground - which of course isn't very safe for them, but it's just the way it has to be. It looks like they were healthy and it sounds like mom and dad were right there feeding them, so I'm sure they just all moved on eventually as the baby got more and more mobile.

If a baby bird is on the ground, that is normal, and doesn't necessarily mean they are in danger. If they are injured, then they probably need help. If mom and dad are nearby, the baby is totally fine and being cared for. It was very thoughtful for you to give the baby somewhere safe and off the ground to spend some time. It definitely would have been the wrong thing to do to take the healthy baby in, so you did great!

That is so awesome Jade thank you !!

Although I have to say I think sometimes I am still at that awkward stage

Hey everyone! Bumping this thread because, while the little pigeon (Norma) is doing great, my sweet little angel Butters here is having a rough time. His eyes have taken a turn and he's having terrible allergies, and this has led him into a depression, which makes it hard for him to eat, which kind of snowballs onto itself. He is 12 years old, so it's possible he may be nearing the end of his incarnation, but he could just be going through a rough patch. Either way, if anyone has any prayers to spare for him, we would all appreciate it so much. He's my special little guy and I'm sure he'd love to go camping again soon. I love him so much and it's hard to watch him suffer.

RE: My 2D homies
Thanks everyone. Butters already seems better today, though it's been a bit of an up and down for the past couple weeks. But, we fed him some baby parrot food with a syringe last night (which he enjoyed) so we gave him some more this morning and, he also ate a piece of vegan lunch meat on his own this morning too, which means he was able to get his allergy pill in him. He's a lot more responsive today than he was yesterday, and we did a pretty intense healing on him last night, too. Kile said he got confirmation from him that he wants to stay in this incarnation so we are going to keep praying and loving!

RE: My 2D homies
I hung out with this owlet last night at Javie Hollow (a tiny pond in my backyard). It was a bit challenging holding a flashlight and my phone to get the photo. But the owlet just let me photograph it while it drank water and flew up into the tree that overhangs the pond.

This is Shorty (because he had lost his tail when I first knew him), a lizard I've known for several years. He hangs out on my patio in the summer. Every year his markings get more beautiful. It doesn't show well here but he has shades of viridian in places and the yellowish scales are actually really bright yellow. Here he is resting after his favorite snack—watermelon. When I open the door sometimes he runs to me so fast for the watermelon he has to skid to a stop. Smile
