I have tried EFT a number of times. The tapping is annoying and completely unnecessary in my opinion. At the core is the acknowledgement of the original experience of misunderstanding. You release that pattern through acceptance. What seems to work is to re-experience the emotion while taking a deep breath. This can be repeated until the pattern dissipates. You can find and release these patterns entirely on your own, of course, by simply reflecting on situations which are uncomfortable.
