everyone will have differing views on this, and they, of course, are most valid.
but since this is OP, I will get a chance to get first shot in at what I consider the most important, grounding, and stabilising area for any individual, regardless of whether they are a seeker or not.
if I had to do my journey again (and hopefully, with Harvest, that is a nada, and I've completed my 'mission'), then I would, first and foremost, address the Orange Ray Chakra.
this is the seat of personal power, identity, self-assurance, self-validity, confidence, skillset, ability to learn, self-trust, awareness of self, and ability to function.
when the orange ray energy centre (and by association, all the thoughts that go into clearing or blocking it), is impaired it can lead to some very distorted motivations in one's seeking, even though one is aiming for say love, wisdom, and an understanding of higher energetics.
one can compensate for self-esteem issues present in the orange ray through externalising into certain habits, usually obsessive ones, as I can speak from experience. It can lead to some very distorted social relations (yellow ray) because everything is being filtered back as a criticism of the self, and one can imagine the very worst about other people, without ever giving them a chance to interact with you.

for those who identify with some sort of Wanderer status, or some sort of off world origin, this explanation can make a lot of sense to explain some of the loneliness and outsider status that one might have had while growing up. And while one might indeed be a Wanderer or alien soul, those issues or hurts from childhood, many years of being on the outside, being 'different', being 'excluded', those mental injuries and traumas still have to be integrated for the self to become whole again.
and these self-identity issues and issues regards how others treat us ('self worth'), these are stored up as orange ray attitudes, that are programmed through many years of re-inforcement and repetitive thinking in the mind. They don't go away automatically just because one awakens, and comes to a truer sense of identity (ie, I am a Wanderer, and this is who 'I am'.).
and so yeah, if I could do it again, I would say - 'forget the knowledge. forget the trying to play a social role. forget trying to gain skills to impress others. Find out what this orange ray chakra thingy is, and read everything you can about it. Maybe find a therapist to work though some of these self-identity/self-esteem/self-power issues. Fix this all important plank before attempting anything else.' Because, as I've learnt, if you don't fix the orange ray stuff, it will distort, and even pervert, anything you attempt in yellow ray (social), green (universal acceptance), and blue (attempts to gain and convey wisdom to others).
as Ra says, the red ray is open or not to various degrees. It is not so much subject to balancing as rather opening to the various catalysts and experiences of life.
Orange Ray is the first energy center which bears the stamp of the self, and is the plank for everything which follows.
as the year rolls over into 2014, and as I turn 37 in early January (even though I still feel and live life as a spritely 22 year old, dem asian genetics lol), I could have saved myself much heartache and suffering if I had had this sagely advice earlier on. No doubt, the feedback and the clues were there in my life, present in my self-attacking thoughts, but I didn't really know how to work with them, or truly understand the importance of the Orange Ray until much much later on.
if you take care of the important things, the less important things will tend to find an easier resolution, or even resolve themselves.
if I had do to it again, the Orange Ray centre could be my Number One priority, and I would invest my heart and soul into investigating it.

what advice would you give to a new Seeker?
